Mike Ike voted one of the top 10 most hated????????????????

In all the threads about Ikeonelli's Classic FUBAR I've seen a few that stated Mike Ike was on the Top 10 most hated Athletes list?? Can this be true??? I would bet that only 1 out of 10 sports fans have even heard of him?? Maybe even less than that!!! Yeah all of us have, But we are Bass Fishermen.

The article being referenced was in the February 2006 issue of GQ Magazine, "The Ten Most Hated Athletes," based on a bunch of interviews the authors did amongst the players/professionals in several sports, including bass fishing. In the latter, the "winner" (or "loser") was Ike. It wasn't based on popularity (or lack thereof) amongst the fans of that sport, but was based on the opinions of fellow athletes, in this case, other professional bass anglers.

I hope Mike takes this wake up call, puts 2 and 2 together and becomes a professional. Reading all the threads over the past week, most hate this dude in a passion like the guys who hate Jeff Gordon. Others have brought up great points about his passion and work with kids. MEMO TO MIKE: Learn from guys who are icons of the sport. Act like you've been there before when you win, and face adversaty with grace. We will all embrace you as a Bassmaster when you do.

I THINK IT'S TIME TO GET OFF OF MIKE'S CASE. YOU ALL NEED TO LOOK IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD BEFORE THROWING STONES. THE MAN SCREWED UP, HIS TENSE,AGGRESSIVE, FAST PACE OF FISHING CAUGHT UP WITH HIM, I AM SURE HE WILL NOW SLOW DOWN AND ENJOY LIFE A LITTLE MORE NOW, OR AT LEAST THINK ABOUT IT. YOU ALL NEED TO LOOK BACK AT HOW MANY TIMES IN YOUR LIFE YOU HAVE: TOSSED A ROD DOWN,OVERBOARD THROWN IT IN THE LAKE, BLASTED OFF FORGETTING YOUR TROLLING MOTOR WAS STILL DOWN IN THE WATER BECASUE YOU WERE TENSED UP OR PISSED AT SOMETHING, SOMEONE FISHED TO CLOSE TO YOU AND YOU SAID SOMETHING YOU WERE SORRY FOR LATER. I WILL NOT get off his case. My "back yard" is dirty too, but I did not run my mouth and act the fool so everyone would look, then when I screwed up cry like a baby that people are paying me too much attention. This dude will roast until he lays down a track record that proves he is sincere. Anybody can say they're sorry, only a few prove it!

......that magazine included bass fishing in its list of sports! There was a time when this kind of article would have ignored bass fishing.

I'm in total agreement with you on that. I wasn't trying to bash Icconelli at all. I was just saying I was suprised that a bass fisherman was included in the poll.
