Minn Kota Trolling Motor Problems

Post by need_a_kicker »

Good Evening All,

I just purchased a Maxxum Pro 80 w/US2 for my boat about two weeks ago. I used it at the Delta this last weekend and it worked great and read the temperature of the water fine. I left the Delta and went to Folsom to fish a tournament and the motor worked fine, however the temperature read 18 degrees. I thought that it may have been confused and read Celcius so I changed my finder to read Celcius and then it was -6 degrees. I called Minn Kota today and they said to check the US2 connections in the top plate of the motor. I checked this and the connections were tight and fine. Any suggestions? This thing is only 2 weeks old!! :? :?

Thanks,

Kicker

I just ordered the same unit. This doesn't encourage me. Sounds like a warranty issue. What does your supplier say or have you contacted them?

I contacted Minn Kota today and they said for me to take a look at the connection on the top end. I told them that the closest dealer from me is about 75 miles away according to their site. I hate to have to drive that far

Same thing happened to me, I used zip ties to mount the wire between the bottom part of the motor that twists and it tweaked the cable out. If I jiggle the wire it works just fine.

I know for me that the issue is the zip tie cut the wire, see if you did the same thing.

Thanks,
