Another broken cable on my motor guide cable. Seems they only last afew years and they break. This time I tried to replace the cable as it don't seem to be a big job. Got the new one in but it's not working rite. Pressing the foot control up and down and it does extend and retract the cable. After installing the unit when pressing the foot control it only rotate the head 1/3 . Is there a certain way the matching unit ( from the cable) is match up with the gear housing on trolling motor ?
Is this a common problem with motor guide or does this happens to min kotta also ??

it sounds like you missed the cable holding screws in the head of the unit. remove the two screws in the gear cover furthest from the gear. pull the cable outward. you will see a machined grove in the the cable housing. push the cable housing back in till that grove lines up with the screw holes. insert screws. test

mg cable
I screw the cable back into a housing which is suppose to drive the gear which turns the head back and forth. Yet when attach to the main drive gear the foot pedal fails to move the unit when pressed. Is there a certain way the housing needs to align to the drive gear ? Sorry for the wording on the parts as i'm not sure of the exact wording for the part.
Must be a simple fix as as the cable extend and retract the housing moves the gear which in turn moves the lower unit.

trolling motor fixed
Trolling motor cable problem fixed for another 2-3 year. There's aplate on the bottom of the foot control which holds the cable and wiring. After I screw the plate down it work and all it needed next was to align the housing with the gear which turns the head. Seems that plate held everything snug.
Thanx for the help and tips.
