I practically live right on the delta here in Stockton. I have been out fishing for bass on the Delta several times and ended up catching a few nice size crappies. One of my buddies asked me if I kept them. I told him that I threw them back and he told me I was crazy.

I was wondering if there are any good locations on the delta this time of year holding a nice size school of Crappie. I would like to take my girlfriend out for some night fishing to see if I can get her hooked on fishing. I was thinking Crappie fishing would be the perfect fish to do this because she would not have to worry about casting all night long. Additionally I was thinking that she would not have any problems landing a crappie all on her own. I know the Strippers are a good fighting top water fish at night time but can get away w/some of my pricey lures really quick. The large mouth are quite a bit more difficult for a beginner fisher to learn especially in the dark. The reason for night time fishing is to beat the heat and the crowds of water ski boats/party animals that can tend to be on the water in the day time.
It would make me very happy if any one could share with me a place on the delta that I can teach my lady how to fish for night time Crappie.
Thank you,
Tex
