I need some help locating Delta Crappie...

Post by N2Fishing »

Hi all,

I practically live right on the delta here in Stockton. I have been out fishing for bass on the Delta several times and ended up catching a few nice size crappies. One of my buddies asked me if I kept them. I told him that I threw them back and he told me I was crazy. Any how I guess a couple of crappie would make a good meal for one person but I'd rather cut em loose and let them get bigger so that they can produce more crappie for other anglers to catch. I'm always thinking about our next generation anglers. :D

I was wondering if there are any good locations on the delta this time of year holding a nice size school of Crappie. I would like to take my girlfriend out for some night fishing to see if I can get her hooked on fishing. I was thinking Crappie fishing would be the perfect fish to do this because she would not have to worry about casting all night long. Additionally I was thinking that she would not have any problems landing a crappie all on her own. I know the Strippers are a good fighting top water fish at night time but can get away w/some of my pricey lures really quick. The large mouth are quite a bit more difficult for a beginner fisher to learn especially in the dark. The reason for night time fishing is to beat the heat and the crowds of water ski boats/party animals that can tend to be on the water in the day time.

It would make me very happy if any one could share with me a place on the delta that I can teach my lady how to fish for night time Crappie.

Thank you,

Tex
