New Castaic Baits

Post by Ralph »

Have any of you tried the new Castaic hard baits? They look awesome!!! I am REALLY considering buying one tomorrow, but they ARE pricey. I know Mike Long endorses them.

They are not new at all ... and most likely have been sitting on the shelves for 3+ years at some places.

I'll tell you straight up - that the Blue Gizzard Shad FLAT OUT KILLS the Stripers here in the Delta !!

Only problem is that THEY DO NOT LAST !! - Either the Body will seperate from the Head on a short-strike. leaving you with nothing on the arse end of it at all... (a two prong plug style soft body to the hard head) - That you will need to supergule to the head yourself right out of the package !!

-- or even the front bill will weaken/remove from the head after having to net a BIG fish that will thrash it for all it's worth ~~ and then will throw the whole bait off center to retrieve true again when the bill gives away - Leaving you with only one chance to tune it yourself on the water to then superglue the bill back into position.

Awesome Bait and Awesome Peformance in the right spot- at the right time ..... But A very COSTLY Bait - for what it will last overall in the end for my Image

The small baits come with a replacement tail and the Sunfish and the Gizzard Shad have replacement tails available at a very reasonable cost.

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

If you'r talking about these,http://www.castaicswimbait.com/Products ... Swimbaits/
I just threw one of mine for the first time today and it looked good swimming it slow, and twitching it. When I tried burning it it started to roll. I didn't catch anything on it but it did look good, I didn't catch much today anyway(just one striper on a white punker jr.).I got a few off ebay for $15ea shipped, look around you'll find them for a good price.
