Yeah my brand new Motor Guide Trolling motor is making a konking noise when I turn the power on then off. The noise is coming from the bracket somewhere and it's driving me crazy. I have checked and made sure the trolling motor is securely fastened to the boat.
When I hit the button with my foot then let off the bracket makes this konk, konk, konk, konk noise, yeah three or four times every time. It's new so I'm going to call the manufactor but I was hoping someone here might be able to help with this problem.
All help is greatly appreciated.

Re: New Motor Guide makes konking noise HELP
your bracket is worn. Make sure not to over tighten the knobs that alow the motor to kick if you run into something.
The pins that hold the motor in the down position have worn alittle, and they have some slop. The best thing to do is grease those pins, it helps to keep it from making noise.
Do you have a bounce buster? This is what causes the pins to wear. When it is in the up position, the motor bounces on those pins.

I hope the bracket is not worn considering i have only had the trolling motor on the water four times, it's brand new. I will grease the bolts where you decribed thanks for the info.

Basstrophy, your klonk is coming from your lower bearing. I have seen this many times on the new motors, Try lowering the bearing collar and put some grease on the bearing, then slide the collar back up making sure that it is push up hard against the bearing. It is best to do this when the motor is in the down position (like being in the water). If you have any other question give me a call. phone # 530 246-8051

JLS, is talking about the bearing in the middle of the shaft. I have to tighten mine about once a year
