Non-boater chipping in gas money....
Re: Non-boater chipping in gas money....
A lot of great points have been brought up... But I want to make one more. Just because the guy you are fishing with is the "Pro" doesn't mean the guy's made of money. He may very well be a hard working guy like the rest of us. And while some of the guys have posted they don't take money offered, I look at as just going back into the boat. I don't ever pocket the money I get, it just contributes to the gas tank or the purchase at the quikstop or whatever you happen to be buying at the time. It also offends a lot of people when you refuse their offer. Maybe $20 is all they have at the time on them, I don't know. I have a few young guys I fish with once in a while, and I know they work for minimum wage, so If they pull out $10 or $20, they are making a true gesture. If I offered some guy $20, with my income, I'd consider myself a tight ***. Some of the best friendships have been established through fishing in my opinion. I guess getting a feel for what a person does before casting judgement would be helpful. Think of it this way... If a guy makes $10/hr, he's got to work almost a full week to cover some of the entry fees.
