Nor-Cal Bass Announcement

It is with deep regret that Nor-Cal Bass announces the suspension of their 2010 Pro-Am tournament trail. Due to low participation and the inability to secure sponsorship in these tough economic times we have made the hard decision to not offer our Pro-Am’s moving forward. There are many expenses required to present a tournament circuit in this day and age and we feel we can no longer offer a high caliber affordable tournament trail for our participants.

We still believed until the very end that our concept of offering an affordable one-day pro-am tournament trail for the working class fishermen held merit and would eventually bring in the numbers of anglers that would allow us the ability to secure sponsorship for the future stability of the organization.

Our premise still stands that our anglers would always receive 100% of their entry fee’s back each and every year and we can proudly say we accomplished that goal until the very end. We will take with us that we were truly a working man’s circuit that treated its anglers the way they deserved to be treated.

However it has become apparent the last couple of years that our angler support was waning and with that our circuit has become less appealing to sponsors. In a tough economy businesses have to spend their advertising dollars where they are going to get the most bang for their buck and unfortunately we can no longer offer that to them.

This announcement will not be the demise of Nor-Cal Bass; we will continue to stay in the arena of bass fishing. We have decided to offer a fair and affordable series of open team tournaments. These open’s will be offered with no restrictions to what you can or cannot fish. They are offered because we still love the sport of tournament bass fishing and want to continue to be involved in offering events for the camaraderie and competition of working class anglers. They are meant to be about the fun of bass fishing, the reason we all started.

At this time we will not be offering a year end tournament of champions until we know what impact our circuit will have. We will not offer a TOC for the very reason’s listed above. Our expectations of how you should be treated at a TOC are high and it takes sponsor support to insure our expectations are met.

We want to thank the thousands and thousands of anglers that have supported our draws and pro-am’s since the mid 70’s. We also want to thank the many sponsors that have supported our circuit over the years.

Please take a look at the early details and schedule for our open team events listed below and visit our website at www.nor-calbass.com for more information as it becomes available.

I'm sad to see a Great circuit having to change to keep a float. Tim, Norval,Dee,Anthony and Diane as well as many others have made it a enjoyable circuit to learn with so many talented anglers to learn from. This circuit was were I too learned to walk before I could run and in past years have ventured out to broaden my knowledge, but have never forgotten my roots and the great times I've had fishing Nor-Cal Pro-Am. I've encouraged many newbies to fish the circuit so they could encounter the same great times as I did. If I understand the format the way it reads I will probably pick and choose the ones I can fish and bring a newbie with me so we can enjoy the learning together. My hat is off to you all for all the years Nor-Cal has been giving back to the sport we all enjoy since 1970, Hopefully our paths will cross again in 2010. Good Luck to you all, Tim please say Hi to everyone for me, especially to Norval for me he always reminded as the Godfather, always wise and knowledgeable Gee the things I learned from that guy. Again good luck Steve Black 8)

Oh Man. I am very disapointed. I've been keeping track since last year in anticipation of joining nor-cal this year.

This sure seems a year of big change in tournamnet fishing....clubs dying, merging and changing.

But, maybe these changes will be for the better..lets hope.
