So......it's not only me, fishin with Flake

Post by Fast Eddie »

So, a couple of weeks ago snowflake and I decide to venture into the foothills to fish the motherlode. We're going to take his Ranger. So he tells me he's a little worried about his lights flickering on the trailer, but my FFS is out so we'll fight through it. Anyway we meet up at 6am at RE. He backs his truck up to the boat and we plug in the lights. Nothing. Flake checks the wiring, and it's all good. We fiddle with the harness, check the fuses in the the truck still nothing. It's now getting light and all fuses are ok, so we decide to drop the hitch onto the ball and go with the truck lights as they can be seen from behind the boat.(of course this will not fly with law enforcement) As soon as the hitch hits the ball, viola!....the lights miraculously come on. Side markers, signals everything. Apparently the ground must be on the trailer. So off we go to a decent day, with one exception......we don't have exact change and no one is at the kiosk.
Now a week later we decide to go again. ^ am at RE and flake decides it's a good time to "change the plug" ?? Really now is a good time to change the plug? Oh well. Bring a flashlight? Now flake is an apple guy, so he's going to use his phone for light. Good thing I was there, cause I could see him holding the phone, cutting the wires, reconnecting them using just the phone. I always carry an LED flashlight in the Roush, so I grab the light and about 30 minutes later we're in the road. Get to the kiosk.......ha ha this time we have the exact change........ but wait! Someone has copped the pencil. Flake does not carry a pen or pencil in either vehicle. So how the heck are we going to fill out the self inspection form and payment envelope? Another angler shows up and he's not sure if he has a pencil either.(What's with these youngsters not carrying writing utensils in their vehicles? What about an accident? How you supposed to leave your name and address if you hit a parked trailer or vehicle?...just sayin :?: ) Anyway flake finds a sharpie used for coloring baits and everything is filled out in RED. So we get to the ramp and low and behold there's a club tournament going on and the ramp is loaded with parked vehicles. Flake doesn't care, he'll squeeze into the tightest of spaces. He launches me and parks.(He has pity on the old man :) ) Fishing was great. we had about 15lbs on reaction stuff. After a full day of fishing we go back to the ramp where the last of the club guys are exiting. There was an older gentlemen in a blue Ranger who drops his wife off at the same time I drop Flake off. Flake pulls out and in the ramp line when he feels a jerk. Then another Jerk, and a third jerk when he hears someone yell "stop!" Apparently the lady couldn't see Flakes trailer and kept trying to get closer to the back of his truck. Flake picks me up and the lady has backed her trailer into the water, and she's apologizing to Flake telling him she didn't see his trailer. Flake tells her not to worry. We get to the top of the ramp and there's some minor scrapping but no big deal. She and her husband pull up and check with Flake again and he tells them not to worry only minor stuff. The thank him and off they go to the weigh in. No other incidents occurred on the way back.
Next up for me is Don Pedro with Christian Bass. Of course we will be battling with the BAM Pro Am on the same day.
Let you all know how that goes next time. I hear tell Josh is on a great giant rainbow bite.
