The Slay Nation Tournament Fishing (SNTF) California Trail held their season opener on Los Banos Creek Reservoir on Sunday, 3/1/2020. 19 boats came out for the inaugural event. The weather was reported to be a little challenging with steady winds in the AM with scattered showers and then settling down in the afternoon. Temperature ranged from the 40s in the AM to the 50s later in the day. The water temp was 53 to 55 degrees and clarity was 3 to 5 feet.

At the end of the day, it was Dave Nunes who came out on top of the kayak division with an impressive 79.25 inch five fish limit and tied for 3rd place overall. Nunes reported that he focused on an area close to the ramp to maximize fishing time. He started out the day throwing reaction baits with no bites or follows. He later found fish in 25 to 30 feet on finesse baits. He reported catching 2 fish on a finesse jig and the balance on the ned rig and drop shot.

Next up for SNTF is Eastman Lake on 4/11/2020.
