Obedie Williams - and son CRUSH "Delta Summer Shootout" event with nearly 40 pounds!

There is only one way to be successful on the California delta, and that is you MUST BE WILLING TO PUT IN YOUR TIME on the California delta, to really learn the secrets of its miles and miles of tule-lined sloughs and levies.

And last weekend’s “Delta Summer Shootout” – a mid-summer event that was rescheduled from three weeks prior, seemed to be just the ticket to bring out those with serious delta “love-hate” relationships.

And for Obedie Williams (aka "Rippn Lipps), a well-rounded angler - with a serious passion and “love-hate” relationship for the delta river system, this event provided the perfect opportunity for him to team up with his young son, and compete in a large field of solid anglers in a two-day competition that would require much more skill than luck.

Day-1 winds were swift and steady, but so were the hands of “team Williams” as they posted a 21-pound limit on the strength of R2Sea whopper ploppers and punchin’.

“We worked a lot of wind-protected pockets with both baits, and really did well the first day, but we knew that the wind was going to completely lay down on day-2, and it would be warmer, meaning it would be “FROGGIN” time, so we dedicated ourselves to throwing Ish’s Phat Mat Daddy frog by R2Sea for most of the day, which was responsible for putting our bigger fish in the boat, including our 8.94 pound big fish”, he added.

Yes...it's topwater frog time on the Cal Delta!

On day two they weighed in a five-fish limit of 18.50 pounds, bringing their 2-day, combined winning weight total to nearly 40 pounds!

For the win – on an 80-boat field, and a $190 entry fee, Obedie and son took home $5,000 cash money, and three custom trophies.

Congratulations team Williams on a well-deserved victory....and as Obedie is known to say....

YEEE-TA DEE!!

We look forward to seeing this these two youngsters continue to compete at a higher level, as their enthusiasm for the sport is contagious and we would encourage any of you that wish to help these two with expenses, to contact FPT, and we will make sure to connect you with these great young men, as investing in their dreams – and our youth in general, is a sound investment any way you look at it.

Next up?....its FROGGIN’ time...and time to rumble with UFC8...the Ultimate Frog Challenge happening July 30-31st at Russo’s Marina!

Don’t forget...if you sign-up by this Friday, July 15th, you will receive a ticket for a delicious Tri-Tip BBQ lunch courtesy of Gone Fishin’ Marine of Dixon!

I’m surprised you chose a pic of a dude posing while his fish have no water in the bag as the one to post. I’m all for tournament fishing, but we can do better than that.
