Painting Outboard Engine

Post by dwise »

I would like to get my engine painted black but I don't know what type of business would specialize in painting outboards.

What type of business would I call to get quotes for painting my outboard engine?

Okay, but what type of business do I need to contact? Is there such a business that only paints outboards or do I go to a paint and body shop? That's the problem I have. I don't know what kind of business to call for estimates.

Just take the panels off, cowl and sides and take them with you to body shops. I say shops because you will need to find one that will give you a deal on those parts.
I just shot a cowl and two lower panels and you shouldn't pay more then 350 max.

why paint when you can get it wrapped for a fraction of the cost.

What type of business do I contact for an engine wrap?

Won't that wear off quicker than paint?

I have to admit though...the wrap looks good and it's different than the standard paint job. It's good that there are options.

Hydro does it on BBC site. Only problem I could see if shipping. Its applied just like paint, theres a film first then clear coat. Ill be having them do some smaller panels for me. To get rid of the wood grain look on my Ranger.

I went to BBC but couldn't find any business called, "Hydro". Do you have the complete name of the company?

Darlene - you dont have to go to that particular shop. The technique is called Hydro Graphpics or water transfer printing. If you do a search on Google in Socalif you should see a few companies that offer the service. Of course you can go to a conventional boat/vehichle wrap company and still have a decent job done with more options on colors and prints.

here is an explaination of the process

Thank you very much, Brian! I found a company in Santa Ana that does water transfer printing. I was thinking "wrap" as in "boat wrap", which isn't the same thing. The water transfer printing sounds like it will be more durable than a vinyl warp.
