Point 1 nema network wiring

I am trying to understand how to connect and power up my point 1 with the nema network and my lowrance unit. I fish from a kayak so the unit is powered by a 12v battery which it is wired to. The nema starter kit comes with another power cable but I am not sure how to wire it up. Do I eliminate the existing connection or do I hook up both. Totally confused. The diagram that comes with the starter kit also shows a switch wired in. Am I supposed to splice in a switch before the fuse. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You must ALSO power the N2K network. Best to wire to a switch so nmea can be turned off when Point1 is not needed.
