Nevada County officials said they found a possible source of contamination that turned the waters of the South Yuba River yellow last weekend.
Officials traced the sediment to a property in Nevada City on Kilham Mine Road. The heavy sediment may have caused the color change in the water.
The county is collecting samples from the property and working with the owner to get the property up to code.
