I just received mine today, so I don't have any field experience with them yet...but they do look great!

I got one for Christmas, have thrown it a few times and it is SWEET. The tail(or at least the one I have) doesn't seem to wanna kick at a slow roll but at a little faster pace they look great. No fish on it yet, I have a hard time putting his 6inch trout down

Hope this helps some..

I have a couple of them, I haven't caught any spots with them yet, but I will. These are very well done baits with awesome markings. After getting them out of the package I boiled and set the front fins, they fold back upon retrieval, but flare out as you slow or stop the forward motion of the bait. I'm very impressed and couldn't be happier :D [ well o.k. if they came with a three times bigger top hook, but thats just me.] :D

Mattlures has again produced a very fine, high quality swimbait. Try USACProshop and see if you don't agree.

They really do catch good fish. I have caught a #5, #6.5 at Clear Lake last year, and a #7 in the Delta. I prefer the male pattern better, it seems to have the better color patern.
They are not verry durable, after those fish I mentioned and some soft plastic glue it was just about toast. I just bought 4 more replacements.
Like any swim bait you have to put in your time, I was fortunate that I caught fish early on and got confidence in the bait.
They hit it hard, with swimbait rod, 25# line the unexpected hit will blow you mind! Hang on.

Rod,

If you go to www.mattlures.com and click on products, then ultimate bluegill he tells you how to set the fins to flare out. Haven't done it yet, but sounds pretty easy. Just don't submerge the eyes.

You should also go to his fishing tips under maintenance and he explains how to apply the glue to strengthen the swimbait before use.

good luck

I have good luck with the male also. I tend to do well when I deadstick them and shake them. I use my big stick with 25 lb. triple fish also.

I had a tank demo last week and threw the Matt Lures Ultimate bluegill. Needless to say I had about 15 guys asking me where to get one. LOL. It must look good in the water LOL. I know for a fact it catches fish :)
