Well, with tournament season in full swing most guys are going to be tight lipped.
Your best bet is to keep it simple. Start out with a black and blue jig, white spinnerbait, and a watermelon red senko. Try some areas out. Be sure to visit these areas more than once a day to see how the tide affects the spot. Be sure to take mental notes of how it looks at low tide. Once you have a few good spots, apply the same concept to similar spots. Next thing you know you will be an expert
Good luck out there and stay safe!

Don't be lame. It's just fishing; you are not the new mesiah you know! Check your attitude at the door Mr. Spinners on da boat trailer.

so there is a tournament going on right now in the delta? Does this mean that it will be crowded?

This time of year there is almost always some type of tournament every weekend. Most are not really, really big so it won't be crowded. It's a very large river system so even on the big tourneys it is rarely "crowded". It may be congested at times in certain areas, especially when the jet fleas and ski boats come out, but you can still ususally find a place to go hide.
I would strongly recommend you find a copy of the Delta Map by "Fishin' Map Co." You could get one a Bay Tackle which is just off 80 in El Cerrito. They are a site sponsor and if you look at the ads at the top of this forum you will see their ad. Click on it for more info!

Pokey- If you wish to tent camp.... I do not personally know of anyone on Bethel Island that allows it. Some will allow you to sleep in the back of your truck on Bethel Island in their grounds. (Sugar Barge)
However- 3 miles from Bethel Island is Orwood Resort that has tent camping and offers alot of shore access fishing with good accomidations. (Resturant, Showers, Firepits, AND a launch ramp to watch the comedy show...... and eye candy.

You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like, you'd say to somebody: "You're gonna like this guy; he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us." You understand? We were goodfellas, wiseguys.

Isn't there a camp ground just north of tower park? I've see signs, but have no idea what type of camping they allow.

The best advice I ever received about fishing wasn't about where, when or what with, but just a simple statement..If you want to catch fish, you have to keep your bait wet..That being said, take it to heart and get out there and fish..
