Shrinkage

Post by MT »

Does anyone know where I can get electrical shrink tubing in bulk in the Stockton area? I need the stuff that a glass rattle would fit in. I'm a little hesitant to ask because I'm poaching a local jig maker's method for attaching the rattle. I'm only tying jigs for myself and some friends so I hope I'm not out of line by asking. I was very impressed when I first saw these jigs and I actually came up with a similar method to incorporate a glass rattle into my striper flies with mylar tubing. But I digress, I don't flyfish much anymore and my arkie mold arrived today and I just want to get started. Thanks for any help. Mike Thompson

You should be able to pick it up in any auto supply store, its pretty common.

West Marine in Stockton will have a selection. It's off of Field Ave near the I-5/SJR bridge I do believe.

Yeah, that's why I was kinda leary of asking Mike. Like I said, I'm only tying for personal use and not trying to step on anyones toes. I'm just tired of walking into tackle shops to find the hooks void of what I'm looking for. It's a long drive from Stockton to Oakley to walk out with a handful of jigs that were "close" to the size and color I was looking for. It just makes sense to pour and tie my own this is the cheapest way to put a rattle in them. My apologies if I've offended anyone. Mike

Well if you change your mind, all you have to do is call Gene and put in a order 925-625-2441 and Bobby can make you what ever you want. Gene will even ship them to you. That goes for anyone. If you dont see it on the wall, tell gene what you want and we can get them made up for you. Spinnerbaits, Buzzbaits, jigs or Chatter jigs.

its 1/4" your looking for. Any electrical supply store will have it or Home Depot

Any one of the following!

Ace Hardware

I use it all the time, not only for rattle on Jigs but also to put rattles in Frogs. I also use it for my Wacky Worms! Have a good time!
