Post by SPJ »

I heard it was caught by a Japanese angler Mr. Shimada of Evergreen? Probably just a rumor though

Being the skeptic, that I am, I would call F&G in that area and see if they actually did so and go from there. Most of these reports/rumors and are just that. Perks our interest however. Bill K :)

I heard the same thing but I heard it was a 20 pound scale..The source I heard this from is very reliable and at the time they were looking for the right scales and doing all it took to keep the fish alive..I am waiting to find out as well..

What i heard was from bub tosh (on tuesday).... and he said that he got a phone call (while he was on a guided trip) from someone that said, there was a fish that was caught that bottomed out a 19lb scale.... Sounds kinda fishy, because I've never heard of a 19lb scale. I thought they came in 5lb increments... Thats all I've heard...

ALL WE KNOW IS THIS, THERE WAS A TOURNAMENT WEDNESDAY, AND NO ONE KNOWS OF A BIG BASS CLOSE TO THAT SIZE BEING CAUGHT.
ALL THE FISH & GAME PEOPLE WE KNOW AND I HAVE TALKED TO, KNOW OF NO 20 LB. BASS OR OF THE SUCH. NOT AS OF THURSDAY A.M. ANYWAY.. THATS ALL WE KNOW.

THANKS

Two questions. (1) why hold a large fish so far out in front, unless it is to make it look larger that it really is? (2). Where on Don Pedro is the background like that? Bill K :)

That fish isnt even almost 20.

This type of stuff pops up like clockwork every year. In the coming weeks we will no doubt hear of a new world record being caught. Likely to be another rumor.

I dont know that much about holding up fish but can you really hold up 20 pounds worth of bass by its lower jaw? without ripping its mouth off?

In my opinion, that fish is lucky to go 7 1/2 pounds.

I was scheduled to fish tomorrow with an outdoor writer, but the trip has been canceled because he has been re-routed to cover the potential world record bass caught from Don Pedro yesterday.

My source is a swimbait manufacturer who was going to be with us, and he talked to the outdoor writer today. He was told the scale was a spring 20 pound scale.

It is absolutely amazing to me how so many people can look at a picture and tell you the weight of the bass portrayed..Hold it clos, hold it far away, hold it any way you want to, that bass is huge..Does it weigh 20+, hell I don't know, but I sure as hell will not say it doesn't..
