I will be fishing the Clearlake Elite Series event and I was wondering how I should go about fishing in the back of the boat.
If someone is bed fishing, what should I do.
Reaction fishing, should do the same???
Co-Angler Suggestions
Re: Co-Angler Suggestions
Hopefully bed fishing will be at a minium. But one thing I like to do is toss a senko around wherever i can while he fishes for that big girl. Or even a swimbait or dropshot. Just keep your bait in the water wherever you can. As for re-action I always like to throw something a little different rattletraps behind blades or vice versa cranks behind ripbaits etc. Unless of course those certain baits are working so well than I'll copy cat but might try a different color or size. So even still I'll be the same but different. hope this helps a little...DanC

If they're bed fishing you might be holding the boat in place
.
What ever you do go out and learn all you can and have a good time.

I had to come back...I know...
Re: Co-Angler Suggestions
I have fished a few tournaments from the back of the boat at Clear lake and i would recomend fan casting a swimbait while the front guy is working a fish.
I have done this a couple times and on the shared weight tournament I ended up culling all of the pros bed fish. On another indivifual weight i got a good limit that I was proud of.
At Clear Lake, there are many cycles for the fish. During the Elite Series i think there will be alot of fish just sitting out about to come in. If the Pro is on a bed fish there has got to be one out and about ready to come in or just finished. I like the swimbait and senko for quality.
Dropshot for numbers, and some quality possible.
Wish I was fishing with you, I got waitlisted, good luck.

Doug,
I agree that keeping the bait in the water is paramount. Along with all of the great advice offered up so far, I would also add a C-Rig brush hog!
Good Luck up there buddy,

I don't think so...I believe that would be an instant DQ for the Pro in an Elite Series Event as I believe they are allowed NO help at all from the non-boater...no info...no going to the non-boaters water...etc.MIKE TREMONT wrote:If they're bed fishing you might be holding the boat in place.
I would probably focus on fan casting a senko, carolina rig and a mission fish around the back section of the boat or at available structure. Just keep yer line wet!
