BassTrix Swimbaits

Post by JamesH »

I've had several pm's about where to get the Bass Trix paddle tail swimbaits. For those who are interested, I buy mine from one of the board sponsors Bass Tackle Depot. They are under the swimbait link on the left side of the page.

They can also be found at "Benicia Bait and Tackle".

Let me add something to this "not to discourage anyone" But listen to this. You can go and buy the exact same swimbait that those guys got all their fish on but does that make them productive? What people don’t seem to understand is that when you’re trying to do what someone else is doing is very hard. Meaning it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to duplicate what another angler does. You can be in the same area doing the exact same thing but duplicating another angler’s tactics can be difficult if not impossible. My suggestions to this is if these guys are saying that they got them on swimbaits then this tells me that the fish are wanting that type of bait not that particular brand of bait. This will tell me to throw a swimbait that I have confidence in, which I care not to disclose  All I'm saying guys is that confidence is HUGE when it comes to fishing and if you have confidence in a particular swimbait then by all means throw that bad boy. Don’t get caught up in all this brand this brand that. Keep it simple and sweet guys..

I agree, throw whatever you have confidence in. We went through about 40 Bass Trix Paddle tails last week. I like the fact that they are only $2 each. Typically you get multiple fish before having to change baits. I'm getting ready to try out some bait glue on the used up pile in my boat.

to repair your ripped swimbaits try this little trick. get yourself a heavy gauge paper clip or used butter knife that your wife won't mind you using for this. heat the end of the clip or knife (very very hot) and run it thru the tear while apply pressure from both sides. the heat from the clip or knife will weld the plastic back together. works great for all swimbaits

I find it hard to do on the boat so I do all my repair work in the garage.

Hope this helps

How do you rig the basstrix? Weightless? Or do you put a bullet weight? Also, do you fish it like a fluke or like a regular swimbait.

Thanks in advance,

several ways of rigging them....

insert a tube style jig

use a wide gap hook like a fluke

use a horsey style jig head and thread the basstrix onto the hook
