peculiar situation

Post by snapitoff2002 »

This is going to be a funny topic, but here goes. I got back into fishing last year, and after ankle surgery, I was fishing every night for an upcoming night tournament. I had THE best woman in the world, and it's my fault that I have passion for other sports the same way I have passion for a woman. I would come home at 4 a.m., kiss her and go to sleep for a bit.. I got so wrapped up, that one morning I came home, got into bed, faked that I had diarrhea, and went back out fishing!!!! Now that is a sick individual.
Fast forward a year. No more wonderful woman. Fishing non stop. She's seeing another guy(probably ten times better than I-damned firemen  ). I used to play pool very well, and placed 2nd, and 3rd in an annual tournament in Sacramento a few years back. Being as broke as I am at this time of year, I am not fishing tournaments. But the itch is there for pool, and I have practiced all week for the same annual tourney.
Wonder what my dilemma is? This wonderful girl texted me out of the blue and asked if I was getting in the tournament on Saturday!.. I said yes- and then realized I have to ask what kind of tournament she's talking about. She says "Won Bass, Shasta, $50 entry". Well.. I was thinking about fishing it also, but can't be in two cities at once. Then I get another text... bomb goes off in my head!!! She says "my boyfriend is fishing it, and if his dad doesn't get over being sick, I'll fish it with him". OUCH- I would rather have a stinger hook in my eye. All of a sudden, I don't feel like playing this annual pool tournament... I feel like whooping some *** on Saturday at Shasta! Then I realize: I haven't been on Shasta in 3 weeks.. I will get my butt spanked!
And if I saw her kiss him before blastoff, I would probably run my motor to 9000rpm whereever I was going.. Meanwhile, I would probably miss a million bites daydreaming of them kissing after each netted or culled fish... Women!!!

So.. which tournament should I enter!!! hahahaha

LOL...It's a game and it looks like she's winning it. Show up at the Shasta tourney with a cuter, younger girl and you'll be ahead of the game again....

Snap.....

I feel for ya man... I know how it is..... to be, whats the words obsessive-disciplined-steadfast to be the best you can at something....it takes alot of time and unfortunately that time turns to neglect in their minds....hang in there man...lost many women due to my racing bikes and many other things....

I like Mik's idea... show up at shasta with a HOT ROD little honey....give her a crash course in fishing.... and put her in the back of the boat.... now it's alot of work to pull that off in short time frame... another avenue, if you like, I have a buddy in Reno that is a custom Harley builder..... and needless to say he is tied into the Stripper scene pretty heavy....I can have him make a call to his harem.... he can have one of them hook you up with an entertainer from shasta... :)

Hehee... good advice all around. I have a decent harem! That's what got me in trouble in the first place! Without sounding like "Days of Our Lives"- I would say that I deserve not to have her anyhow. But if you go through chicks like toilet paper, and you keep thinking about that one that you felt so comfortable with, she was probably a keeper. Which is true in this case!

Shifter pilot- I think you know my plight as well as anyone. When you are a competitor, it doesn't matter if it's tiddly winks- You still want to be the best. All those hours of working on your bike, practicing, refining technique.... They turn into neglect. Bass fishing is every bit as bad, or worse. Still can't help but daydreaming of coming into weigh in's with a huge sack, big smile, and a girl on each arm.. HAAHA.. delusional!!!

Not to pick on straitline.. I just have to totally disagree with this line of thought.

I've known my share of vindictive women and I think this advice is way off base. I think she is trying to make you regret the way you treated her. She is trying to rub salt in your wound. Perhaps she doesn't feel that you have suffered enough and if she can make you really regret losing her, she might have some closure.

If she thinks you will be there, she will get as dolled up as she can, she will have her new beau in on it too. She will tell him to play along and they will pose to being a loving, lustful couple who can't keep their hands off each other... and it doesn't matter if you win the tournament.. she aint there for the fishing and her new man has every excuse in the world to not do well. After all, he had her in the boat as a partner.

My advice, tell her you are fishing it and then don't show. She will contact you later that night or the next day wanting to know why you didn't show. She will be steamed that she got up at 2am to spend 3 hours showering, putting on makeup, curling her hair, etc. and you didn't even show up, and that will piss her off.

If she really wanted you back she would have asked you to meet her at a bar or a restaurant (somewhere away from her new man, someplace that serves alcohol)

Just my 2 cents. My sympathies and best of luck to you.

Here's some advice from an older, married guy... And, believe me, all of us have been down the road your on, some of us more than once... And this comes from the great Gary Radnich on KNBR. Anyhow, quite a while ago, some guy called in about being down after breaking up with his girl, & their conversation went something like this:

Radnich: "Were you married to her?"
Caller: "No."
Radnich: "Had kids with her?"
Caller: "No."
Radnich: "Don't worry about it."

And that, amigo, is the truth.

Find a hot Escort and have her pretend to fish off the back of the boat with you

Bro,

That hurts, I agree with both reasons of thought. But she is definatly playing a game with you, either to get back with you or to shove hot pokers in your eye.

I would play pool. Dont stoop to her level. Take your pool tourney trophy to her house afterwards and show it off to her. Ask her where her trophy/check is?

OK so here is my take on this, now mind you I’m not a big fan of giving advice to a complete stranger let alone over the net, because every one takes it wrong and gets all pissy and stuff. But you asked for advice so here is mine. (It’s all in good fun)

So here is the analogy …You have made it to the final match to the greatest pool tournament in history the prize is GIANT and well worth the effort and hard work you have put in. We’re talking 9 ball now, it’s your break and it’s a crusher…you drop two balls on the break and are set up perfectly to run the table. BUT you look over and there is the 9 ball sitting 3 inches away from the side pocket…you look around and see a possible combo…you’ll have to put a ton of English on the Q-Ball or you will most likely scratch on the shot…it’s doable but it is a risky shot and it has to be perfect!
So instead of taking the time to run the table with low risk easy shots you decide to do what you have always done…GO FOR IT…you have practiced for this a thousand times before only this time the difference is you don’t get a second chance. You line up your shot, and SNAP you watch as the combo ball strikes the 9 and the 9 ball drops into the side pocket…you watch as the Q-Ball rattles around in the corner then slowly drops into the corner pocket…click!
So do you think you get to run over and ask for “Do-Over’sâ€

LOL... wow Greg.. didn't know you played a little pool..... I'll gamble, or play ya for some more help with Shasta! Ben Onopa didn't say anything about that! I went to the pool tourney, my play was lackluster, and I was thinking about fishing all weekend. I did get a good luck text... but that's not what I'm looking for. Just like anything else- You want to excel at anything, you make it your priority. Kudos to you Greg for being a family man first, and a great angler second.

Why dose it have to be a game, why not be honest and trustworthy. Love doesn’t tri to get back or one up.

btw, bikes don’t take near as much time. 2 one hr long motos. 3 hrs of work out/cardio and a couple hrs of wrenching a day is only 7 hrs. More than enough to be competitive at any level

Fishing its easy to be on the water 10+ hrs, add 2 hrs of rods and gear care, 1/2 hr of boat cleanin and fixin & yer over 12 1/2 easy.

race day isn’t even comparable as most chicks dig going to the races. I haven’t met one yet who will sit on the dock and wait
