Clear Lake this weekend

Post by jchopper »

I get to go to Clear Lake this weekend. I just got back from Oroville and am tired of catching all the 1 1/2 pounders and want to catch some good fish. I know the lake is on fire right now and you can catch them on about anything you throw. Just want to see if there is any advise to be given to catch some big ones. (where to throw the swimbaits, what areas, how deep,...)

Hey Chopper. I heard the bite was slammin. I will be up there this weekened as well. I heard that the fish are biting on everything. But my problem is, is the rain that we just had going to mess up the bite. I am way too excited for this trip, but if this rain and cold front messes up everything, I will be pissed. What do you think of this cold front?

I heard that the rain didn't reach that far north. I checked the weather and it looks like it is still pretty steady, a little cooling on Thursday or Friday, not that much though.. We'll see. I am excited too.. I always seem to hit Clear Lake on an off bite when I'm up there though... I hear about how good it is a week before I go everytime! I'm hoping the rain will get the swim bait bite going a little more... seems to do it for the Delta... Hope to see you up there.. What kind of boat are you in?

I have a little 13 foot boston whaler. I flipped out into like a little bass boat with the deck in the front and in the back just like a bass boat. Where will you be launching out of. I will be staying at Konocti Harbor

I'm staying at the Lake Escape. It's across the lake from you. I'm in a Ranger. White with yellow and silver stripes. I'll be lookin for you. Good luck man! It should be a good time.

I'll be up there on Sunday. Most of the reports seem to be from the North. How is the South? I usually launch from Redbud but I'd like to explore a little up north.

Bassbones, you up for a little advice. Send me a PM if you can spare some info.

Cool man. Hopefully we can kill em. I will be there till Sunday. When I leave Sunday morning, I am going to stop at Berryessa and see how the bite is there. Heard it was off the hook also.

Hey guys stick with reaction baits such as the ABT shad baits or traps I also have done good on swim baits such as the ABT titan or river 2 sea bottom walker rember rip rip pause.

I was at Berryessa last Sunday and did real well everywhere on the lake except shallow. I caught fish in 10-20' on dropshot and hula grubs. Couldn't get bit on rip baits or a Hudd.
