I spill my coffee all the time,,,just plain water out of the garden hose with pressure will do it. May take a couple of times, but thats all I've done in the many of years fishin and spill'in coffee.

Good luck

COFFEE ON CARPET STAINS:

You have to work on the 2 problems coffee stains create, the oils in the coffee that will attract more dirt later and the pigment from the coffee bean.

STEP 1: Blot the area with a clean, white cloth to absorb all the liquid you can. Blot from the outside of the stain in to avoid spreading the stain.

STEP 2: Mix 1 teaspoon clear, mild liquid dishwashing detergent with 1 cup lukewarm water.

STEP 3: Sponge the area with the detergent solution. Blot again with a clean, white cloth.

STEP 4: Mix 1/3 cup white vinegar with 2/3 cup lukwarm water.

STEP 5: Sponge the area with the vinegar solution. Blot with a clean, white cloth.

STEP 6: Sponge the area with clean water. Blot with a clean, white cloth.

(A clean, white cloth ensures that dyes from the cloth won't run into the carpet.
Avoid rubbing or scrubbing - this will cause the stain to spread)
You can rent a steam cleaner and add white vinegar to the solution and suck out the coffee stain.

Only one thing that I found truly works and NEVER allows the stain to reappear.......FOLEX. It can be found at either Lowe's or Home Depot in the cleaner area. Works wonders on coffee and any stains on the house carpeting.

Most of it will come out if you soak it with water. I've spilled coffee many times and the garden hose will get it out. If there is any stain left, a little simple green will get the rest.

This works. Tide w/ bleach
1) wet the carpet
2) sprinkle alittle tide w/ bleach
3) use a toe brush and scrub
4) rinse many times
5) dont over do the sprinkling or you will be rinsing for days.

Hey Hackney?

Even the smallest amount of detergent added to your carpet will foam up whenever you're fishing in the rain. I think it would be funny if you poured detergent all over the carpet and see what happens, do it and tell us how it goes

If you can't prevent a stain, (Like avoiding coffeee over the carpet.) the best defense is a quick action after the spill.

Contain the spill, grab a hankie or towel, pick up the vessel and blot.

After blotting, use lakewater to rinse the affected area. Don't allow Coke, coffee, fish blood to dry. Dillute that sucker, and try to rinse it away. If it drys in the sun, it may take a "set" and become a stain. This will entail more work to remove, or become impossible to remove.

If all else fails in stain removal, and replacement is too expensive go for camo. Decorate the thing if you have too, like covering a stain on a shirt with a new fishing patch.

I have done really stupid things, the worst was a Sharpie pen in my back pocket after blast off. The cap came off, and I rubbed indelible ink all over my seat, and my pedestal. The only lucky thing was a recent treatment of that 401 uv treatment or whatever it is called. The ink did not take a real bad set, and a hard scrubbing got it clean. Brand new boat back then! Just about flipped when I saw the mess!

Simonez Tuff Stuff cleaner sold at auto shops works pretty good on carpet.

It's a fishing boat, right ? So, are you trying to look spotless ? ..... or catch BIG fish ? ;-)

Forget the glitter, and the clean carpets.... The fish couldn't care less !

I remember right after I had put the deck and carpeting in my brand new trophy bass boat (my 14 1/2 G3 aluminum) and then I went out and stuck a Sturgy, which got 4 feet of slime, and some blood from it's lip on my pretty new carpet. It bugged me for about 10 seconds..... and then I asked myself, "What the heck am I thinking" ??? This is a freaking fishing boat ! What better way to thrash the carpet ? ;-)

Anyway just remember, all the time you guys spend cleaning those sparkling boats, is time you could spend chasing hawgs :-)

Like Vernonn said, Simple Green works. The key with all of the ideas is to rinse it with lots of water afterwards. Otherwise, the dissolved stuff will just reset into the carpet.

Hey guy;

After you have tried all the stuff everyone is recommending to you and the stain is gone to your liking. Go to a hardware store or big box type and pick up 3 cans of Scotch Guard. nothing fancy just Scotch Guard. Then go over the boat and seats with em let dry for a day and you re done for the rest of the season. Keeps the dirt, stains and other nasties from penetrating into the carpet. been doing it on my 12 year old ranger and the carpet still looks new just a little faded from the sun. :P :P

Resale ? What are you kidding me ?!?!

Once I get ahold of a boat (and its the same thing with a car) I use the thing 10 X's more than it was ever designed for, squeezing every last ounce of life out of it ! By the time I get rid of a boat (or car) their is never going to be much, if any, re-sale left to think of ! I flat "wear them out" !

As a matter of fact, I "gave away" my last boat. The way I saw it, I paid $600 for it (and $2000 for a brand new Honda 9.9 for it, a few years afterwards), and I fished out of it aprox. 1200 days..... for 10,000 hours. What's that work out to ?.... Less than .50 cents an hour, 'with gas included' ? {granted, I gave it to a buddy, so I can still use it when I want to :-)

Anyway, I buy a boat to fish the living $#!+ out of it..... Not to park it on a driveway and try to make it look pretty :-) But that's just me.

Oh, and about the Smallie, thank you Mr. Gambler :-)

Peace,

That is you but some of us take pride in ownership, my first bassboat was a 1976 tidecraft hph :) fished alot of tournaments out of it and won a few bucks  Paid 5,000 for it and sold it 13 yrs later for 5,000. Next boat 89 dynatrak kepted it for 13 yrs also the guy that bought it said it was one of the cleanest boats he had looked at  he bought it on the spot without hagglin about price. :P I will keep my Gambler till I die :D But there is a few of us that take pride in the way our boats look  good luck on your trophy hunts   Mike Matthews

I hear you Gambler, but just so you understand, I couldn't be prouder of my 14 1/2 ft G3 ! It's probably a bit bigger, and faster than I really need.... But what the hey :-)

I think it looks awesome too ! Like "nature" should look ! Mossy Oak Shadow Grass all the way :-)

But hey Gambler, don't mind me. Your safe among the crowd of "normal" guys out there ;-)

Great fishing to you,
Fish

I'm sorry for bragging, but it's just a thing of pure beauty, ain't it ? :-) .....and yes, I rub on, pat on, and talk to my boat too ;-)
