A solid statement bag... take over early ish... still waiting on skeet.

Edit: I would love nothing more then to see Swindle keep coming in with nice bags like today and still miss the cut, then he can't repeat his "it's just luck to catch anything over blank lbs" crap from the delta.

These weights are just incredible! Clear Lake is going to prove to ALL that it is one of the top 5 bass fisheries in the country if not the world! The size of the fish, averaging 3+, is another good proof the importance of catch and release!

I am pulling for Ish. Not only is he from the valley, but my partner of the last 20 years could be his brother. We get a lot of double takes when fishing because he looks so much like Ish. They probably wonder who the silver haired old honkey in the back is though. LOL

If push comes to shove, I would love for the Calif. guys to sweep.

Let them spout poetic about Texas, and then let all the idiots who just want to fish the "#1 lake in the country" go there, instead of here.
Which would you rather have, bragging rights, or the best fishing in the world to yourselves?
I know this sounds like selfish, and it is, but there are enough people on our lakes, north and south, as it is. I'm not embarassed ( or is that em bare assed?) to say I'd rather catch the fish than have some yokel from Kentucky who chose to come here instead of El Salto catch them.

I was at Lake Falcon a couple weeks ago for spring break, just after the elite at Amistad, and I can say that Clear Lake is much better. We did catch a bunch of good spook fish, but it wasn't my thing. The only real structure is trees and humps out in the middle of the lake, no weeds, rocks or anything. I didn't like it. Plus, Zapata, the only town around the lake, is a total dump. I don't think I will ever go back. We planned to stay a week and only stayed for 3 days, then drove up to Choke Canyon. That lake is cool, but the fishing still doesn't compare to CA. There are just more fish in the lakes up in N. CA. Granted, I had never been to these lakes, but I think I am good at finding fish and figuring things out. We usually do as good as or better than anybody we talk to. Everyone in Texas likes to fish slooooowwwww and way off on points. It is really boring. I prefer to power fish and it tends to pay off.
I am going to Lake Fork tomorrow. I hope the crowds are not too bad and the fish are on the beds.
The only reason people in Texas think the bass fishing is so great is because they don’t know anything else. They have never been to CA and they think all the lakes require 4 stroke motors with permits and appointments to be able to launch your boat. It is a bunch of misinformation and ignorance, to be totally honest. Also, Texans are just too proud to say otherwise.
Can you tell that I am ready to move back home to CA after just a couple years in Texas?

Seeya,

Peter

Seems to me that if Texans think their lakes are so god awful good, we here in California should let them keep right on thinking that way and keep them off of our lakes. Good Luck to Ish and KVD.

Now that is what I am talking about! Bass fishing is alive and well in California. I lived in Texas, learned to tournament fish in Texas. While they have some big fish there, it is not even close for quality with numbers.

Have some fun boys, because it is all ours when you are done and gone home.
