Congratulations Kyle and Brian
Another win at Casitas with over 20#. With one tournament to go it's going to be tough catching them in the point race.

Awesome job guys, you too John for second.
Re: Congratulations Kyle and Brian
Isn't the last event at Castaic where the team that is 2nd in the points has won 2 tournaments this year already? That will be no cakewalk. Never over till its over. Better tell those boys to practice. Rick G.

Thanks Lowell
Even though we didn't get a lot of bites we had a lot of fun. Jerry put our kicker in the boat first thing in the morning dropshotting Robo's Oxblood light Redflake 4 1/2 straighttail (surprise). We metered a fish in 24 feet of water with that new Hummingbird 997c SI turned on him and caught him on a dropshot. From there we started fishing in the 20 to 35 foot depth to catch most of our fish.
I was hitting the Tules on deeper water and the deep brush piles fly lining a 4" Senko and pulled some fish out of there. The best Senko fish was about 4#. Each time we would throw up shallow we would get rats from 10 to 12 inches so we stopped wasting our time on shallow water.
I have been fishing the same area for the last 6 tournaments and have been getting a limit out almost every time but it was an average limit. The water temp had dropped and the Alge bloom was real bad where we were fishing so we knew we had to change what we were doing. This time we moved a lot more hitting some deeper flats and long running points. We knew we needed one more good fish, we just couldn't get there. We had a great time. The level of talent in that tournament was pretty high and we were real happy to do well against that group.

Re:Contraulations Brian and Kyle
Looks like Mark and I are fishing to keep the third place spot. We had a good tournament considering that I broke the throttle cable in practice at our second stop on Saturday morning. We almost got run over by a guy doing about 60+. I don't think he saw us idling up the lake (my boat is a dark colored boat) in the shaded part of the lake. I had our first fish on the first cast on the under water island with a Swimbait and it was almost a 4lber. Could'nt be a large fish. After that I was the net boy. Mark caught alot of fish on wacky style sinkos in the brush. I lost a large swimbait fish in back of a cove. I was glad that my kidney stone did'nt give me trouble this weekend. Good job Brian and Kyle. You guys rock. See you at Castaic.

Re:Contraulations Brian and Kyle
Thanks guys. Fishing was really strange. From all of my years on that lake, I've never seen Casitas like this. Full blown algae bloom, nothing but 13" males on beds, NO females around. Casitas is definitely going through some kind of funk right now. I guess the lake was "blue stoned" either yesterday or they are planning on doing it today. That should improve things in a few weeks.
Anyways, Kyle and I caught our whole limit on 7" Roboworms in 30-50 feet. Color wasn't a factor. Our limit was all spawned out and pretty skinny we felt. Some of the fish that went 5 lbs. should have weighed another 1 1/2 lbs each. Nothing secret about what we did. Like last tournament, we fished Diamond Valley Style, slow and methodical.

That is CASITAS style.......remember? Or do I have to break out the old Phenix Boron Don Iovino rod to remind ya.
Re:Contraulations Brian and Kyle
If that's what Don was using, it didn't work! (Har Har!) Just kidding Godfather.Or do I have to break out the old Phenix Boron Don Iovino rod to remind ya.
Re:Contraulations Brian and Kyle
This was the first time for me competing against Don(the Godfather) Iovino. It's a honor to be able to say that I fished in a tournament with a legend.

Yeah it was good seeing Don. He always does good and then you partner him up with Jerry who is one of the best on that lake and it spells trouble.
They like us had a tough tournament but it's always good to see them.
Congrats to Kyle and Brian. You guys did a great job on a tough bite.

Thanks Henry. Anytime you can beat Todd on Casitas is a good day. He's the King of that place for sure!
