Probably too early, water's most likely still too cold. But, it can be good. It's also probably low still, so fish primary points. Spinnerbait bite first thing in the morning, maybe rip, After that, dropshot out about 10-15 feet, dark colors.

Fished there only once, during early July. Found the lake very tough. Threw some popers early got a couple of blow-ups. Small 4" roboworms and 3" leaches on light line (C-Rig) produced a couple of dinks. Guys that fish that lake often have a handle on it, but we struggled.

Oh, looks like you are going on Easter weekend...that place will be an absolute zoo, especially if the weather holds. The first three hours will be ok, but after that you may want to find a shady bank and drink some cold ones. Beautiful lake though.

Here's the scoop on Bass Lake. First off you must purchase a county boating permit to launch, even if just for the weekend, it cost me $50 five years ago and I only used it for 2 days. Then you must go straight to the Cop dock for a boat inspection. I needed a throwable flotation cushion, he directed me to buy it at the local ma and pa store where they overcharge ya on it, I don't recall how much exactly. The lake was an absolute ZOO. Folsom aint got nuthin on this nuthouse, it was the worst I've ever seen. Second day I figured I'd beat the crowd and get on the water at first light. I launched and made a short run to my first spot and started fishing. About a minute later a cop boat pulls up behind me and proceeds to give me a speeding ticket. Well, in my ignorance I failed to read the little handbook they give you at the dick, I mean dock inspection where it tells ya the speed limit is 5 mph til mid morning. And to boot, the fishing sucks. It was so blown out, I did'nt catch a single fish all weekend. This lake really blows. I'd go to clearlake if I was you.

Well I will agree with Dave till the last line....this lake has some unbelievable bass in it.....alot of fish well over 10LBS are taken every year but the rest is the real soop-cost u and arm and a leg to go out in LA traffic on the water! I am thinking ANYWHER is better than here!

Dont quote me on this but i believe you only have to have the boat sticker between end of May and October. Its the only time they enforce it. Fishing can be good at times. Traffic should be moderate this time of year.

Good Luck

true, the lake will probably be a zoo for Easter weekend, but they dont enforce the boat registration until the week before memorial day. The lake is still low for this time year.
