I am planning on throwing a 316 Minnow, but a little confused as to which rod I should use.
I have my crankin/blade glass rod by lamiglas, is this rod to soft?
Should I use a stiffer rod for this application?
Thanks in advance.

Re: 316 Minnow ????????
I'd use a stiffer rod than that for sure. Its not a big bait but its got a big hook in it and you always have the potential for that BIG bite. You're talking about potentially needing to sink a 5/0 worm hook through a lot of plastic and into a 6, 8, maybe 12 pound mouth. If you can do that with a glass rod then its not a problem, if you can't then step it up a little. I don't think I'd use a full-on swimbait rod but a heavy 7'6" or 7' would definetely be a good move.

I would tend to agree.... I throw a regular MF on my powell swimbait rod for exactly that reason.... You are trying to burry a BIG hook in a BIG fish!!!!

I got some of these at Cal expo a while back. I have not got a chance to use these yet. How do they swim in the water? Does it look pretty real? Has anyone caught anything on them of any size?

Lucas is right, that is a great idea! That's probably the best way you could add weight.Bassin wrote:superMat,

I've had success putting mojo slide sinker weights inside the air pocket....my last swimbait secret revealed

the mojo weights are definitely a good idea if you want it to sink faster, the falcon hooks only go to 1/4 oz. just make sure you secure the mojo weight in the airpocket (superglue somehow) or it will fly out when you cast sooner or later.
