What glue do I use for a transducer (flasher thru boat type)

Post by TDOSoldier »

I’m going through the used Bass Boat I purchased a couple of weeks ago and found the transducer unglued from inside the bottom of the boat. What kind of glue do I use? And what should I clean the surfaces with? Do I need to know more about this subject? It’s been two and half years since I’ve owned a glass boat so I’m a little out of sink…! Your help would be much appreciated. God bless :) .

a two part epoxy, dont use liquid nails or other contact cement. Two part epxy is best.

Take it to C&C

Post by ash »

Take the boat into C&C and have them epoxy it down. You may run into several issues. 1 - your old ducer may have residue of epoxy or glue etc.. still on it. If this is the case you need to sand down the old reisdue or a new ducer as air is NOT your friend.

2.) You need to sand down the area you will be installing it to as Air is not your friend.
3.) it needs to be on flat part of the pad and installed strait or it will give you false readings.

It is well worth a few bucks to have a shop install it correctly then taking it out on the water and finding out you have an issue (trust me)
