Fishing etiquette

Post by fishercurtis »

I know this has been talked about before but I have to vent a little. I took my 2 boys out today for a fun day of fishing. We pull up on a tule island on indian slough on high tide to fish some wacky rigged senkos. I get the boat all positioned so my boys can get there casts into the tules. Tick tick, great I thought, set the hook boy :D . Not 3 minutes later 2 guys pull up in front of us on the same tules 30 feet away. :x Now my 9 year old says hey dad thats where we are fishing. Can't they find there own tules!!!. Loud enough that the guys in the other boat could here us. U think they moved on NO. :x :x What gives???? I know maybe there fishing a tourney but come on.

Answer is simple. As a rule people are friggin rude. You are much more likely to find what happened there from tourney guys. They are damn arrogant as a rule. I should know, I fish em. Sorry, I hope your kids caught some fish. Good on ya for taking your kids man.

Thats when you fire up the big motor trim it up just right and put a big Roster tail across his boat. But prob not with the kids with you.

That seems to happen all the time on the big water ways. Put your self in a float tube and your working that same tulie bank when here comes the 21' bass boat behind you. They fish within casting distance then put the trolling motor on high and zip around you. Then they stop a casting distance infront of you and say good luck.
All you can do then is be glad your not at work. What can you do? Nothing. Im glad that it doesn't happen all that often as most anglers do respect one another. Its those bad anglers that help us enjoy the good ones. So did the kids slay some Delta toads?

I think that's the exception, not the rule, but it does happen too often. Sorry it happened in front of your kids. Hope you guys caught a bunch.
At least you had a chance to show them first hand what having respect for others on the water is all about, and why it's important.
Lessons like that will stick with them a lifetime, and you're raising the next generation of considerate fishermen.
Good for you, and good fishing to the whole family.

to WALK ON WATER so I can put these people in the hospital. Har. It happens way too often. I would be so embarrassed to do something like that. It's extremely rude and it gets my blood boiling. Two years in a row at the Holder Ford Tournament we were catching fish and the people see it and turn the boat around and start casting right on top of us. Happened a couple of times in Anglers Choice Tournaments and I had to fend them off with my 1TON JIG. I just started winging it at them. It's like heyenas tring to get in on a lion kill. Har. Unbelievable. I flipped out both times of course, and then they decide we better leave because they think I'm actually gonna WALK ON WATER and do some *** kicking which they deserve. Then I have to apologize to my partner who does not like confrontations. I don't like them either, but you have to stand up for what's right and wrong and let them know they are WRONG. They know what the rules are and they break them. God help them if I figure out this WALK ON WATER deal. Har. D.B.COOPER 8)

And this is the reason I have a stereo in the boat. Some a$$ Clown pulls that with me, he is getting some death metal at full volume.

It's extremely rude and uncalled for.

Next time pull up and then drive back and forth and Gerald Swindle them for a good 20 minutes. See how they like that action.

Argghhhh, You have my sympathies Curtis.

Mr. Catchemcaro brings a good spin to this subject line....I too fish from a kickboat often as do I fish many "regular bass boat" events. Something that should also be added to Rich's statement is, when we are fishing a bank from a kickboat or floattube please realize that we are most likly not heading in the direction we are facing, rather the opposite direction. This happened to me yesterday, a boat that was fishing a tournament came in behind me (when I say behind me, I mean in front of the direction I was heading). In stead of giving him an ear full, I just continued paddling by and shook my head in disgust. He replied, "What? you were heading the other direction" ...Just wanted to educate some of you if you happen upon some of us kickboaters or floattubers working a stretch of bank.
