No! I took her home to take pics. No one had A camera at the tournament. I put my boat back in the water and took her back to the spot I caught her.

I dont care what anyone has to say I wanted pics with her!!!! I would be sleeping with her tonight if I could!!

Re: Wieghing in A 15.4 in A tournament
As a matter of fact. For every one that gives this guy a hard time for taking the fish home to take a picture. I will keep one bass that I catch for every negative post, and give it to some bank fisherman that is fishing for food.

Re: Wieghing in A 15.4 in A tournament
The largest bass weighed in a tournament that I recall was a 14+ by Dave Newton in a WON Pro-Am back in 2003 and of course that record 14+ by Mark Tyler caught in the BASS open in I think '99 or 2000. Andy, (Cooch) may remember something larger than 15 weighed in a tournament, but I can't. The Sapper or Dee may also know the answer to your question. And last, don't let these fools mess with you, you caught that fish, you legally took that fish to the scales and you have the right to do with that fish what you want! No explaination is required, however in my mind, it was admirable that you returned the fish to where you caught her.
Good fishing, I guess I don't need to say that!

So you're going to sleep with the fishes.
Very nice fish and I know about not having a camera . Good luck on many more.

15.54 In WON Bass Gary Howell
Gary Weighed in a 15.54 in a WON Bass in 01 or 02
Re: 15.54 In WON Bass Gary Howell
I thought that was right Ken but I went and checked and according to Offical WON Bass Records its :
Largest Bass - Jared Lintner (Pro) of Arroyo Grande, CA, 14.85 pounds, April 2000 at Clear Lake. Dave Newton (AAA) of Brentwood, CA, 14.08 pounds, April 2003 at the Delta.
Maybe Gary can confirm it?

Re: Wieghing in A 15.4 in A tournament
First let me say AWSOME CATCH! Thats a HAWG! Second I hpe it was the camara but the fish's eye looks cloudy did she swim away? It dont matter I guess its your catch I was just woundering. Tournament I thought the rules state that all fish caught in a tournament has to be released and if it was 10lbs or bigger they would either allow you to keep it to mount OR I could be wrong but I thought the FPT would pay for a fiberglass mount I cant remember the details Heck I never caught a 10+ in a tournament 7 was my biggest .
Can some one clairify?
Again Awsome catch I just hope she survived not to many teen fish caught out of the Delta over the years.
Just think if the tag thing goes you could have tagged her and found out years later about her.

If you guys want to look through old WON tourney results, the archive page is here:
http://www.wonbass.com/archives/index.html
It has complete pro/aaa and team results going back to 2000. I don't have time to look right now.

Re: Wieghing in A 15.4 in A tournament
Nice fish, What a hog. Congrats!!!

Re: Wieghing in A 15.4 in A tournament
I was at big break back in 01/02 when someone brought in a 17... they put it on the scale and it read like 25lbs, tons of oohs and ahhs, then settled at 17.xxx... the fishes eyes where the size of baseballs... I think it was anglers choice?

Re: Wieghing in A 15.4 in A tournament
My brother Jr. weighed in a 15+ in a federation tournament about 10 years ago and Mark Ding weighed in a 15+ in a Stockton Bass a few years ago.
And Dom for clarification most tournament rules state you may KEEP a trophy over 10 Lbs.

Re: Wieghing in A 15.4 in A tournament
It was Chuck Spurlock, and not only was it a tournament record at the time, it was the Delta record as well.
Galen Jensen surpassed it with 18.63 I think, for the current Delta BF.
Fifteen pounds in a tournament? Awesome fish of a lifetime, and in a contest would have to be icing on the cake.
Awesome catch!

Thanks guys!! I think it is more in the top 5 either way it was A fish of A lifetime..
Re: Wieghing in A 15.4 in A tournament
Straitline, Awesome fish!!! I wish the 15.48 I caught out of Oroville on Easter would have been in a tournament! Two 15+ fish in less than a month is cool. Good job on the release as well.

Re: Wieghing in A 15.4 in A tournament
Great fish. In Nov 2000 I caught a 15.02#er in a Hook Tourney. Gene said at that time that it was the 3rd biggest ever weighed in a sanctioned tournament on the Delta. My recollection is that there have been a couple of 17's since then. No matter - that is a great catch. Be glad you got the picture. I did not have a camera - someone else snapped a picture for me. The film ended up lost.
