Boat Tune up!
I recently had my boat serviced at Inland Marine for a full service and took the boat out Thursday to see what kind of service they provided me and all I can say is that Frank and his Team did a outstanding job on my motor! The motor runs Extremely smooth! and the power is incredible! this Team knows their stuff!
My tip to everyone is to call Frank at Inland Marine (925) 757-1714 and let him provide you with superior service and treatment he is on top of his game!
thanks

BULL-SQUASH!!!!!!!....C&C....is less and dose as Good spent over $$$$$10,000.00 at that store om my Ranger getting new carpet, electronics, brand new bench seat from Ranger..(TWICE)......100 hr service...stress cracks removed..ETC<ETC<ETC.......I had to remount my foot pedal at last Summer nut case cause it was installed wrong.......The very expensive recessed foot pedal installation was a hatched job.
the throttle adjustment was botched......And when they opened it up at the ranger dealer in
Redding for the same problem every clamp on the fuel lines was leaking cause they installed the wrong size and the in-line fuel filters were the wrong size, causing leaks in addition to the hose clams.....I was wondering why my gas mileage was so off until my son saw the gas leaking from under the cowling....It was a bomb waiting to go off. lucky it dint...to bad though cause I would have sued there A^^ OFF And been the new owner. Took it back two times for them to make it right .all i got was a run around..and it took over a year and half for total time when they started. Boat was in there shop for over a year..I WOULD NOT GO BACK TO C&C MARINE if they paid me too...BUT I WILL GO BACK TO REDDING OASIS/RANGER. I had a slight problem after tournament they fixed it on the spot no problem and no charge...that's what I call service after the sale.but its good to know that a good shop is 12 miles away from me instead of 250.........All the stress cracks that C&C said they got out are BACK.......and that A$$-H*** in the back room .you know the one who smokes.he even burned a hole in the new carpet...That he installed...He said the carpet that they were supplying was as good as the 520's...Crap..Tracker is better.Theres more but I ll stop befor my blood pressure really go's

Yeah, I'll second and third this ...
Frank and his team does an outstanding job on my motor when two other shops couldn't find out what the problem was!!

Re: Boat Tune up!...hmmm
well that's unfortunate you had that experience...but i can't speak for more than just yearly maintanence type of work.
I've taken my yamaha into CC modesto for the last 3 years and it runs excellent...no problems...knock on wood that is.
i just don't understand the degree of price difference between CC and some other places (Inland being one of them). I mean it's about a $300+ price difference with the other places.
and again...i'm sure the guys at Inland are great, but when i can save $250+/- on a service, why not?

Re: Boat Tune up!...hmmm
Hey Guys,
The real question is, how do we define annual service?
I can assure you, as long as we are comparing like for like service, most reputable shops are not $250 over any one.
The big difference in an annual service is if the engine is tuned up completely and or if the impeller is changed as well. An annual Service could simply be, change the Gear oil and fuel filer.
Most bass guys who are in the weeds constantly and chance burning their impeller change it annually and have their engine tuned completely as well. (A full Service).
On game day, the Pros want to know that everything is right, do not take chances.
They do a full Service every year. Plus it is good insurance.
Apples or Oranges Annual Service
Types of Annual Service:
Annual Service:
Gear oil and fuel filter.
Annual Service:
Impeller/ Complete lower unit Service / Fuel filter
Annual Service:
Tune Up Only: No Impeller
Tune Up/ Change Plugs / all Filters / Belt if needed
YDS Yamaha Diagnostic Test
Or CDS Computer Diagnostic Test. (Mercury)
i.e.: Checking onboard diagnostics, full systems test, past error codes, Run history……………
Annual Service.
Full Service:
Tune Up / Change Plugs / all Filters / Belt if needed

Re: Boat Tune up!..Frank D & Thomas
Let Me give you a small brief History;
1. 1994, 200 efi Merc, 394 Ranger, I am 3rd owner
2. Larry Hempfhelds & Phil Baltmonts Boat
3. That's why I bought in first place in 2000, excellent condition.
4. I followed Merc and there (previous owners) service plans C&C doing service befor I buy boat.
5. Boat bought new in Redding by Larry
6. 100 hr serviced or 1 time a year which ever came first.
7. I said to C&C what ever it needed, I am not mechanic just do all
8. Complete tune up service, lower unit, impeller, filters, plugs, etc
9. $500.00 each time done at C&C I never question cost, just do right
10. I never put 100 hrs a year, so 1 x a year done.
11. 5x serviced @ C&C, 3x's go back for problems after sevice.
12. Every Time I went back to C&C cost me more money, cause they said it was something else not related to 100 hr sevice. But it was either this or that, I am naive and gullible, trusted them. After spending $ 14,000.00 for complete restore and they having boat in there shop for over a year, with excuse after excuse not ready on time they said it would be. It took me 2 days to clean it after getting out of C&C shop, for Nut Case Rally at Clear Lake last summer. I could not complete Rally, boat ran like crap, went back to C&C, cost me more money. It never did run right, until I took it in for service at Oasis/Ranger (Son stores in Redding) They opened it up and found broken filters, bad hose clamp's, clamps wrong size what Merc specs, damaged fuel hoses, fuel spraying out of hoses and under clamps. Throttle problem's that C&C suppose to fix. A butchered job recessed foot pedal install, C&C gouged out foam under deck & drilled hole into forward storage compartment, routed drain hose into, they even kinked hose, instead of going straight down into bilge like they should have done. $350.00 for 100 hr service, no plugs, Oasis said not needed. Plus $350.00 to fix C&C 's F*** Up's. The motor run perfect and the boat is now right......except for the damage to the gages and dash were that A** H*** at C&C spilled Acid Tone on. C&C offered me $50.00 off my bill for the damage (Thanks Chet & Travis)
As far as I am concerned C&C has completely destroyed there reputation as a dealer for Ranger and a Service Shop. I rather drive the 250 miles to Oasis in Redding to have any type of work done and know that it will be done right!
They charge $95.00 hr plus parts, or maybe the 12 to Franks in Antioch
Depends if I keep hearing good stuff about em, I use to hear good stuff about C&C too
DEPENDS ON THE SERVICE AFTER THE SALE DOSENT IT
I know that I would never recommend C&C to people Living or Dead even if there Service was Free.
They should be selling used car's

One thing that I would ask -- Is for personal phone updates nightly, other day/3 days in the least. Even when it is schulded to be there for so many days. --Had this problem with one of my trucks some time back. -- I wana be kept abrest on the progress of my child at all times while it is spending time away from home.

Please don't make me call while leaving me on a limb. A phone call and personal contact is a must and very easy. --When I gotta start doing the calling for updates.

Guy- $14k for a service for complete restore? and over one year off the water?? -- How the heck did that come into place???

I would agree with Dan 100%. One other note that I didn't mention in my post was that Frank did a follow up with me to see how my boat was running and I have to tell you that was a first for me!
I feel it shows the kind of character a person is and how they run the business. Frank understands customer service!
Good Job Frank and Team!

Hey Tom,
The following are some of the ways there could be a $250 difference in the cost for a full service.
At Inland Marine you always get what you paid for. We could charge less for the Full Service and not do a quality job, but we won’t.
Service is our business and our reputation is at stake.
This, in no way is intended to discredit any shop or dealership.
Impeller Replacement:
Change impeller alone
or
Change Impeller, housing (kit) and nylon bushing / We change all components.
Gear Oil change:
Change Gear oil using Mfg Gear Oil. Yamalube. We only use recommended Gear Oil.
Or
Use House Gear oil / One Gear oil fits all fluid
Fuel Filter:
Replace Fuel filter and O ring / We change the fuel filter and o-ring
Or
Clean fuel filter
Or
Look at fuel filter / visual only
Air Filters:
Changed (Inland Changes)
Or
Cleaned
Or
Visual / not plugged, good to go.
Or NA
Complete Computer Diagnostic Test: Inland Marine test all.
Or
Sounds Good we are good to Go!
Or
Don’t have one or to much trouble to hook up.
Technicians:
Factory Trained Certified Technicians
Or
Non-Certified Mechanic.
We quote Optimax, HPDI and EFI’s full services with parts estimated at the higher.
Parts cost can vary dramatically. Optimax plugs are expensive.

Re: Boat Tune up!..Frank D & Thomas
that's unfortunate...
but again, i've only had my engine serviced so i can't say much about other services that CC Marine offers
all i was trying to point out was that the prices i was getting were on the high side compared to CC Marine for what seems to be the same type of service
i guess we can agree to disagree on this one

Re: Boat Tune up!...hmmm
[/Frank wrote Service is our business, our reputation is at stake quote] The boat was in a accident at Clear Lake, Crazed House Boaters, I was able to ask for what thought I was going to get Complete Restore of a 25 year anniversary Ranger, Insurance took care of most, except for the carpet and electronics. That was 5000 bucks out of my own pocket. I never go out of my way to bad rap C&C except when I see post like TOMAS. And he is happy with em. That's a good thing..BUT!..When Chet saw my wallet and forgot about his Rep...That was his problem and GREED..I never did get the used parts back for the 100 hr service, only receipt and parts list.
Like I said I TRUSTED Until I found out to late what was going on with my boat. By that time they had it completely torn apart. seats out, carpet out. electronics out. deck lids off...So I had to wait DAN, cause they had me by the balls and my boat was in pieces in there shop....So Life Goes On And I Learned The Hard Way.
Rather go into a legal battle with C&C. I got the grounds and receipt's my lawyer said...I just say go on, I got my boat back, it runs fine. I only have a few of there messes still to fix (travis installed the new latches upside down
) and broke some but used super glue to repair
So If I save some other person the grief of ever having to do business with C&C by going some were else, Maybe to Inland Marine or else were. That's the price of a Bad Reputation
