Thanks Bob Myskey 64 (fish) in 4 (hours) @ Clear Lake

Post by Big Rick KFOG »

I had a 1/2 day with Bob Myskey Monday and fished with my buddy Rob "Mr. P" a middle school teacher from Pleasanton. As you might know teachers get a little buggy late in the year. Rob said it has been a pretty stressful year for him.

A few weeks ago when beautiful Spring left and winter came back to Clear Lake for a visit Rob and I had a trip scheduled with Bob for a Friday. It was wind and rain all week and Bob called me and said hey let's not go. You're not going to get the bite I know you want. We can save it for when the conditions improve.

Rob and I were kind of bummed, any day fishing is a good day really. And he and I do some salt water fishing in pretty bad conditions, but we understood if the guide calls and doesn't want to go that is probably the right call. So we had our make up trip Monday.

Rob and I wanted to try some top water, but it just didn't turn on for us. After that slow start things went crazy. We fished the last 4 hours on an insane bite and got 64 fish with Bob working his butt off for us. I kept telling him to fish with us, but he was too busy to get a line in the water! Our best 5 was close to 25 pounds and total weight safely over 125 in 4 hours. It was 3's and up, a 6+ for Rob and a 5+ for me. Not many dinks.

It was a great day.

Thanks Bob for knowing to cancel, and the great Spring trip.

Forget about towing/launching/filling up/your boat. Don't worry about the tackle to use. Get a friend, split the cost, and hire a guide for your favorite lake!

"I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said, "We'll go with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

"OK guys, Who brought the banana?"

we are a lucky bunch to have so many great guides to choose from. I hope people realize the resource and use it. I think bob took you to his "dink" spots! he is saving his good water to exterminate us all next week. I was more comfortable when he was working in private industry! HAR!

Well... He did say he wasn't going to fish the upcoming tournament in the morning as we left, but then as we pulled in he said maybe!

:D

A little bonus: he did a good job pulling out a big worm hook from a fish we caught. It was lodged pretty deep and it was about at least a 2/0 I'd bet. It came out clean.

Going with a guide is really fun. I budget it for about 3 or 4 times a year.

I too went with Bob several years back... and although we didn't have 64 fish to 6 lbs, I was a very satisfied customer. We caught fish everywhere and he didnt fish for himself. He simply wanted us to do all the fishing and the guiding.
