Clear Lake

Post by Blade Runner 11 »

Hey I'm a bay area deck hand just got a used ranger this last month and wanted to try her out tom. I would like to start her off on the right foot, catching fish. Any info on fishing the lake mostly where would help a bunch. Thanks catch and release.

The bite is wide open at clearlake right now so you will catch fish just about anywhere. If I was you, I would fish docks and tules and pick the closest launch ramp to your house to save on gas.

I was up this past weekend and will be there the next two. As stated above the bite is wide open. It is really more of a matter of how you want to fish and that may dictate where and what you fish. There are fish on tules, rocks, docks, weeds, and even beds still. The top water bite was not great for me with only 6 fish, but everything else I fished, caught a lot of fish. I hit North, Central, and South and caught fish in each area. Just put the trolling motor down and fish what you see and you will have a blast. No need to burn a lot of gas.

I don't know what other guys think but I think the blue Clear Lake Fish N Map is pretty good. The "good for bass" marked sections are a pretty good place to start. The maps even have GPS numbers on them. Most tackle stores around should have them. I think both the places in Clearlake do. Even the web site has good info on fishing structure.

The map is a good 7 dollars (or whatever) well spent.

"I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said, "We'll go with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

"OK guys, Who brought the banana?"
