I did it! One year without smoking!!

Post by Larry Douglas »

Yesterday (the 6th) was my 1 year anniversary. I know that there are several others on here that are ahead of me a few weeks. Just wanted to wish you all the best and hope everyone is sticking to their resolve.

I have never done anything as self gratifying as kicking that filthy, expensive and harmful habit.

What difference has it made in your life? When my dad quit after a lifetime of smoking, he said food began to taste better and smells became more intense. Course, he also gained a few pounds because of that great smelling food!

Larry congrats this is the best gift you can give yourself and your loved ones -- by far.

Been off the weed for awhile now myself.

I was worried I'd gain weight and grow more uglier.

Fact is I am now more handsome than ever and I am now considered attractively meaty. And -BONUS- I buy every new bait I want :) :)

Life is good :) :)

Larry, good work and it is work, but you will just feel better and better with yourself as time goes on. It will still take effort, but you can do it.. I stopped, cold turkey in 1979, and still have a urge once in awhile, but never give up and stay away from that old tobacco. Think fish and tight lines, with good health. Bill K :)

The biggest differences I've noticed is........minimal.

Of course I don't carry that smell around anymore, but the idea of my taste buds becoming super sensitive simply didn't happen. Of course, food has always tasted pretty darned good to me.

I did gain 15 lbs or so, but that wasn't a problem as I've always been a bit underweight.

I'm still sitting aside the money I would have spent smoking. At $10 per day, it adds up quickly.

I don't feel physically better, but I know that I am better off than I was a year ago. Shortness of breath has improved somewhat.

The absolute biggest change for me is knowing that I can, and did, beat this habit!

Those who are considering stopping....please do! It's a wonderful feeling.

Thanks for all the kudos, guys!

Outstanding, Larry!! I'm looking forward to that. I quit on the first of the year and haven't had a smoke since. There's a handful of other nutcases that quit around that time, too. I've noticed that my nose works better. . . smokers really stink!

I'm using the extra money for better quality wine!

Continued good luck with that, Larry!

ALL I CAN SAY IS KEEP IT UP. YOU THINK YOU QUIT AND 10 YEARS LATER I STILL HAVE A URGE ONCE IN AWHILE,(ESPECIALLY PIPE SMELL), YET OTHER TIMES THE SMELL IS OFFENDING, MUST BE THE TYPE OF TOBACCO NOW DAYS ??

GOOD LUCK LARRY

Curious what you gusy did to help you quit? I have tried several times and I have gone back to it. Mindset? Gum? What has helped you guys?

Some of my friends have takent the subscription stuff and once they stopped taking the meds they started smoking again

Any advice is appreciated! I want to stop and my will power just sucks I guess...
