I strongly recommend a leader. Braid once
nicked is useless. I use a 3 foot 15-30 leader.
I use spiderwire and use a blood knot.

Shoot me an email if you want more info on
this topic. Been there done that unfortunately.

Thanks,

I have used a few types of braid and I now only use the Spiderwire STEATH (not the original). It is pliable and gives you all the good things of braid without the stiffness and other issues. Depending on water clarity, type of bait being used, structure, etc determines if I use a leader or tie directly to the bait. When I use a leader (usually due to clear water) I tie a double uni and use the new Vanish TRANSITION (not the regular vanish). bruce
