Just a heads up that beginning on July 20th, MWD will shut down the aqueduct system that spplies water to Diamond valley lake, and lake skinner. This shutdown is scheduled to last 10 days.
This shutdown is for the purpose of inspecting the aqueduct system for Quagga Mussel intrusion.
With the loss of this water supply to Lake Skinner, it will be necessary to supplement the lake with water from Diamond Valley Lake. This will be accomplished with the starting of the hydroelectric generators at DVL.
We will operate up to 7 generators during this time period, which is going to drop the elevation of DVL a significant amount.
For those of you without GPS, this would be a good time to break out your cameras, and to photograph the soon to be exposed structure.
I will post updates as I get them.

Art,
Do you know approximately how far the drawdown will be?
Hope all is well,
Shawn

Re: COLORADO RIVER AQUEDUCT SHUTDOWN
If we go to the full 7 generator flow, for the full 10 days, I would estimate 5 to 7 feet.
Re: COLORADO RIVER AQUEDUCT SHUTDOWN
Wow its always nice to be reassured of the fact that Colorado River water is going into DVL & Skinner lakes & that big mistake like the Sultan Sea. I'm sure that once there is no more water to supply building in Vegas that those lakes will no longer get water period from the Colorado River. Maybe theres some more tree huggars that are still around that put a stop to the Marble Canyon Dam...., hey?
Re: COLORADO RIVER AQUEDUCT SHUTDOWN
hey Arti hope this doesnt effect the fishing for our tourney On the 21st..
Do you think there will be a what??1-3ft draw down?
Either way see ya Sat.
