Topwater Frogs

I am starting to get into the hollow topwater frogs and their are a few brands out thier like Reaction innovations,Snag Proof,Spro Just wondering what you use and if you could tell why you like it thanks for the help

To be honest, I've only used the Snagproofs...I especially like Bobby's Perfect (in various colors). I've had pretty good hook-up ratios and tons of blow-ups, so I never felt the need to change.
I throw it on 30-65lb braid, depending on the circumstances and crank down the drag on my curado. If the fish just slurps it down, I pause a second or two before setting the hook. If the fish expodes on it, then I swing for the fence.

Froggin' has become my favorite form of fishing.

The Snag Proof Bobby's Perfect frog is the best I have seen. I will re-shape the hooks a little to get the fit between the hook gaps and the frog body perfect, but other than that they are as the name implies "perfect".

I differ from these guys.

I think the one of the best open water frogs is the CoverJack by Monster Jack. It walks the dog in open water better then any frog I have used. It works great on grass too. Lobina Lures sells them on their website.

For grass and I use the Cover Jack and Spro Bronzeye frog. I think Dean has done a great job with the design of that bait.

Stay away for the Reaction Innovations frog I don't think their worth the money.

I use 55 lb. Samurai braid from Daiwa it is the smoothest braid you will ever put your hands on. Once I got it I gave away all my Power Pro.

Once you get started you get hooked.

I am another fan of the Snag proof frog. I really like the Bobby frog the best and would be glad to put it against any frog out there. I have tried in the past one here and there of other company, but i just keep coming back to Snag Proof and using their product.

Try one that you think works well and just fish it. If i remember correctly it only took one strike to get me hooked for life.

I used to use the Sumo frog and Mann's Swimming frog and had a pretty poor hookup ratio with both. This year I have switched to the Snagproof Bobby's Perfect frog and have hooked almost everything that comes near it. I could not believe the difference plus these little froggies are tough! I have caught over 100 fish on the same frog and it still looks almost new. I am a true believer in what Bobby Barrack came up with.

Do you guys think the difference in hookup ratios is the frog itself, or the hooks, or a combination?
I've had fish jump over my Ribbit, drive it into the water, and never bite it. Same morning, same cove, same bait, they eat it and try to pull the rod out of my hand.

Also give the Furbitt a try from optimum baits. Add a little glue to the rabbit fur legs to hold them and off you go. The blade gives you the option of just swimming it fast or doin the usual frog thing. Also the Snag-Proof frogs with the Owner hooks are way better than Bobby's Perfect frog. Use a heavy rod so you can get the hook-set needed to penatrate the biggin's mouth plate. I found out that one the hard way a few times...

What experience or situation do you base this by ? Im not meaning to be confrontational. I'm curious.

I have tossed every frog you can buy, or I could buy. I have given everything away except for the "perfect frog" I personally just find the "perfect frog" to work best for me. If'n you don't like the hook's I understand that part, I do put owner's in some and I also wrap the hook with Flytying tread with 'zap-a-gap' so the hook dosn't spread open when only one hook barb gets in and power pro pressure the hook wont spread open.

When I'm puttin my $$$$ on the line there's only one frog to throw, and that'd be snag proof's perfect frog. But don't listen to me, because I wan't your duckets......Mike G

Listen to Goodwin... he can certainly catch frog fish! Havasu is a great frog lake!

Many of them are modified for certain situations.

I love frog fishing and there are definitely better places for different frogs. For example... under over docks or tree limbs - River2Sea.

Really thick matt and/or grass - CoverJack.

Tules or thin grass or mat - Bobby's Perfect

I always mix the furbit in as often as I can. In my opinion its got the best hook-up ratio of them all because it is a very soft frog!

Just my observations over the past few summers. If you take a real look at the frogs from Snag-Proof (cant remeber the specific line name from them) but the frogs with the larger owner hooks gap outward a little more than Bobby's frog but its not only that but its also the softness of the bodies. Trust me I was a true Bobby's believer til I actually gave them a try on the suggestion of a proven tourney angler randomly as we both stood in front of that section in a store. I'm not saying Bobby's are crappy just that if I'm choosen to use Snag-Proof I would give those others a try also. I get paid by no one and fish for myself and the love of big fish so take my advice for whats its worth. These are just my humble observations from almost daily summer time fishin'....

I agree wholeheartedly with Tom in that the Furbitt does have an amazing hook-up ratio and also a little spice thrown in with the blade. Great bait but crappy customer service after losing leggs on almost every big blow-up til I discovered similar rabbit fur legs and super glue.
