I remember reading a WON Bass during the high water years that someone caught a 10 pounder and it was the new record.

I caught a 9 pounder in practice for Stren last year.

That is true Ricky. It was a week or 2 before a W.O.N. Pro Am....
I fished Murray and we talked about it for a long while.

Then it was broken! A budy of mine catch a bass last week there (10+) took photos and released it. Sunday when returning his house boat told the marina and dfg about the fish and they started to freak out. Why didnt you keep the fish? they asked him.. After talking to him for an hour they gave him paper work to send the state to have the wieght of the fish estamated. ..... worst of all it was caught on my Rod and reel!!!!! But heres my question.... Do I get my name in the record book?? since it is my rod and reel........

the Lake Mead record is 12.0 pounds and was caught by Michael Geary in 1999......it was a spinnerbait and, in fact, is was a blow out special at Walmart on the FLW spinnerbaits.....he paid $1 for it and caught the record....I swore it was up in the Muddy, but that was a long time ago.....I met him on the ramp at Government Wash (back in the day).....just an everyday dude that was out fun fishing.....go figure!!! I guess even a blind dog can find a bone!!! I'm still looking for mine

Mead sucked (Saturday), Mohave(Sunday) was good.....actually smoked the trout up in the river....Willow Beach was washed out with the flood, so I went out of Cottonwood and ran up......saw some trout in the 5 pound range.....

Typicaly a 22" bass normal size is about 5lb. thats a good strating point in trying to figure weight.

Congrats to the gentlemen who caught that beast cuz thats an awesome fish for Mead it might as well be a 10lber. Come Lake Mead Classic time anyone of us would be super stoked to stick that donkey!

geez LVBA$$ 16 lbs for the weekend, was that for 5 fish or ten fish, cause i would say thats pretty darn good for this time of the year, but then again i havent been out in a while, so i am not sure how the fishing is right now. Thats a nice bass also David. I better get out there soon to see if i can find some pigs, and hopefully stay there for the lake mead classic. Time to do some homework.

Are you kidding me?

5  It could be 10 for you

Ive been on the same pattern that I won the Pro Tackle tournament on at the end of June. Im just finding the same stuff that the 3's and 4's hang around and staying away from my "good" water.

But whatever, I might be lucky to weigh in a limit come end of August

PS: When you go fishing EVERY weekend its a little easier to know whats up.

yeah i use to fish everyweekend, but lately i have been to busy with work and vacations, and trying to get stuff in order for my wedding, but i will definately be there this weekend rain or shine. I drive a silver and red team skeeter boat, drop by if you see me, and have fun. Thats a darn good limit. We only had like nine pounds in pro tackles tournament. I just cant wait tilll the end of august.

Byron,

it was a great joke....I was just quoting a movie line.....it is all good....yes, I do use a wimpy rod for the trout....I actually loved the line, I'm going to use it from now on!!!

David,

you are on fire.....keep it up.....you definitely put your work in.....I have summers off and can't get on the water that much......good luck in the tourney......

and that fish is definitely not 10+....sorry......shoot, Harold Adams caught a 9 pounder in an ABA years ago, and it was the ugliest looking fish every.....if Mead fish get that big, they are grey, old, and ugly.....that was a good looking fish and something to be proud of.......way to go....

That is a heck of a good bass... anywhere but, especially on Mead. however, to me it doesn't look like it will go over 10 lbs. 10 Lb Bass have a head on them that will take almost two fists in its mouth plus they are slightly deformed looking in the front half of the fish.. I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade! I'd take a fish like that on Mead anyday and be thrilled.... but, if I had to guess I'd say 8 lbs... maybe 9.... but, photos make it tough to tell!

Nice fish no doubt. However, I don't believe it's even close to 6 lbs. Not tryin to rain on the parade. I was lucky enough to catch a good one @ Mead (luckily on the right day) last year. Hit this link - http://www.americanbass.com/2006_south_ ... rticle.pdf

scroll to the bottom right side of the page, and put the pictures of both fish side by side. I'm not seein a lot of difference.
Congrats on the nice catch, hopin I can get one this year as well.

No problem Brent - My brothers license frame is another good one to stirr things up. It says "Catch and release" -- "In hot grease".
He gets some pretty sh#$ty comments about it but like you said, it's all good.

It's safe to say that the fish is not 10lbs. especially if you had to put his height and weight in the pic to "justify" the size of the fish..
Nice fish for Mead non the less but I must say if anything is under estimated, it's the angler's weight...The fish is over estimated..
I'm 6'1" 222 and my girth is not that large..

I didnt think it was ten...but when the said it was just over 30inchs.... how many 6-7lbs fish are 30inchs??? He is amped because fish and game was pumped on it.... no doubt it was a great fish for mead. I said his hight and weight to give prospective., and to get a better judge of weight form everyone.......For Joe, i wish it was a record. You dont meet many people like him. Wouldnt of happened to a nicer guy
