Swim baits at clear lake

Post by brambo0311 »

What should I get lunker punker, shell cracker, spro bbz, triple trout? I have been holding off spending the cash for big money baits. I currently throw the reaction strike 19 dollar chinese junk ones. The bass dont mind if you take off the made in china sticker. Anyways any advise? Oh yeah and since Im spending my lunch money, please dont tell me about the bajo minnow and flying lure. I got enough stuff that dont work.

Brambo - This past weekend, Cooch did very well on the lunker punker and I did very well on the Shellcracker at Clearlake. For those, it is pretty much your choice.

I have thrown the River2Sea bottomwalkers, the Huddleston Lavendar Shads, the Huddleston's and they all work. The Slammer and AC Plugs have worked as well. There are a lot of fish up there eating wake/swimbaits right now, so you probably won't go wrong with any of the choices.

Thanks guys i will give them a try. I think the only ones I can find right now are the tripple trout. I can locate a DD bass quicker than I can find some of these baits.

Lunker Punkers at the Hook! 925-625-2441! This bait is one of the most exciting baits I have ever fished! Took a TopNut on the River with a 5 bass 25 pound limit, then another TopNut this weekend up at ClearLake using it. I'm hooked, and gonna go git me a trout version just becuase I can, thanks to the Konocti Casino! HAR! HAR! HAR!

I have had success with a lot of the baits previously mentioned, the shellcracker and the punker have been the most fun to throw. I have been using the 6" and 9" punker and I believe Cooch is throwing the 9" model. Watch out for the Ospreys as one nearly got away with my 6" punker this past Sunday.

For sheer numbers of fish the Basstrix 6" paddletail with weighted Falcon hook is killer. The shad, trout, baby bass and ayu patterns all will get bit savagely. (And don't be afraid to deadstick this bait in deeper water.) I've also caught a few using the new smaller Huddleston shad bait ROF 12. (And the Basstrix is at its best when you skip the bait way, way up under the docks, it skips like a dream.)

Found a couple of tripple trout in 10" only. Im gunna give them a go. Kinda freaked out throwing a bait thats more expensive than my rod. Bringing my mask and flippers. Im gunna chase down whatever breaks it off.

I did pretty good on the AC minnow in rainbow trout. I caught 9 fish over the 2 days of the Rally and weighed 4 of them. Couldn't get bit on a Huddleston shad but I'm sure it will work as well. Seems the wakebaits are it right now. I'd love to get a Wake Jr up there but no money to get one right now.

I've had some good success at Clearlake on the 10" triple trout, if you stick to it you'll do well. Just keep throwing and believing that it will work and in time, it will.
