Hey Gerry M.
Hey Gerry M.
Are you sure on your facts about Mike Long's fish @LMV. Maybe you should call him before the you know what hits the fan. Just a suggestion. Rick G.
Re: Hey Gerry M.
hahaha do you actually think that someone would catch a big fish at an actual lake and then say they caught it as mission viejo?? who cares about mission viejo. its a pond. no one cares about it. you shouldnt talk **** on someone that has proven themself way more than anyone else on this forum. mike could go win every tournament in southern california if he wanted to. and im sure you dont think so but its true. their is no one better in southern california.

Enough Already!
Kyle is right, although Mission Viejo consistently puts out MONSTER bass each spring it's a friggin' pond, not a trophy destination. After fishing that place for 6 hours, I'm ready to go. I don't know how anyone can be on that pond every day. Granted, it's not always easy to catch huge fish there, but it's DEFINITELY WAY easier than a real lake like San V, DV, or Casitas.
This is really none of my business, but I have to admit that I'm tired...Tired of the negativity, tired of seeing jealous nuts bad mouth Mike Long, tired of rumors, tired of Mission Viejo trophy guides and their Huge EGOs, and tired of the bs.
I have never had any problems with Gerry. In fact, he's a real nice guy. I just don't understand why he would stoop this low.
Mike Long has nothing to prove...Period. He can kick all of our asses pretty much at will. What the heck would Mike have to gain by saying that he caught a big fish at MV? Nothing. Mike, DON'T listen to the BS. I know it probably boils your blood and you'll want to ring their necks, but continue to take the "high road." You are a class act and have Nothing to prove.
It's fun to mess with our fellow bass fishing friends, but when malicious rumors are spread through mediums such as this, it can be devastating and unfair. This site is not intended to spread slanderous opinions, it's for all of us to have fun and network. It's time to stop the BS!
Thank you,
Brian

Re: Hey Gerry M.
I dont care one way or the other. I dont know mike and the only thing I know about him is his name. And this pissing contest over a supposed 19 at LMV is sucking the life out of me. I have heard Mike on the radio(I posted about a month ago and no one responded to me about his appearance on ESPN radio.) The only call I heard was a guy questioned him about fishing lakes when they are not open to the public, he responded and then the segment was over. Not another word was mentioned on the subject, in fact I dont remember Mike's voice being heard the rest of the show. That is the only time I have ever heard his opinion on anything.
Do his fish matter to my life? No. Do I give a sh#t? Not really. The fact of the matter is there was a fish caught, somewhere, and it was reported to be 19 lbs. When this whole thing is finally settled, good for mike or bad for mike, I will make my judgement then. But until then I will keep fishing and looking for MY personal best.

Re: Hey Gerry M.
You know, I shouldn't have said a thing about this. But it pisses me off to see and hear actions of this sort (and Mike Gash's) to FOOL the general fishing public (it all comes down to $). I know Mike is an awesome fisherman, he can flat out catch fish basically anywhere, anytime. And I'm not one bit jealous on his abilities either........he persues big bass and that's pretty much his specialty and nobody can touch him on that. BUT....when he catches a huge fish after hours down south (Jennings or Dixon) and uses a lie (M.V.) to get his "credit" (on the all-time list), because he just recently stated to all of his "followers" that he wouldn't count a record fish caught after hours....well he caught one and want's his credit. The picture(s) I have of his submitted photo(s) to the S.D. Tribune tell the whole story.....I believe he caught that fish, no doubt.....but why did he have to lie and say he caught it at M.V?.......to maintain his big-bass catching reputation ($).....pure and simple. There are many reasons he would use Mission as his scape-goat. I could drag this out and expose the whole deal in public.....but I won't. If you want to know.....call me or hit me up in person, I have the whole scoop from the Tribune to the personel at M.V.........I don't have the reputation Mike does, or ever will....so I'm not afraid to tell the TRUTH about all this b.s.....Oh, and enough sh*t on M.V. / Guides etc. etc. I am the best fishing guide out....period, whether it's M.V. Perris, Castaic, San V or the ocean....anywhere! It just so happens that MANY people from out of state want to fish M.V., reasons being....a great potential for personal best fish (a 5lber is a big fish to many) and being a private lake, no license is required!....nice and easy for people out on business or vacation......step on and catch fish. If you don't like me, or what I stand for ....that's fine .....If you know me, you would probably side with me....and sorry about "bragging" on being the best guide out there, my Dad always told me it's ok to brag.....so long as it's true and you can back yourself up......end of subject....later!...Mike L. or Rick G. call me anytime or shoot me an e-mail if you'd like.

Brian's correct...
The site is truly intended to bring the community closer together, not further apart. I think a lot of this started offline and has spread online now. Some of us might even be in the dark as to the particular's about what is being talked about but I sense a big split in the crowd and that surely isn't for the positive.
I'd also encouage those that want to subsitute letters in a word to quasi disguise poor language to please stop the practice and try just to use clean language. There are lots of words out there that simply don't get enough usage and the foul ones get their play just about anywhere so this doesn't have to be a place for it to continue.
However any of you feel about Mission Viejo as a fishing destination please understand that for those that can get on it's great place to fire yourself up at and for the beginners it's a great place to learn some basics and catch fish while doing so. There's nothing wrong with that. I don't think any of the guides are working there exclusively but if they are it's surely their right to do so.
Again, I hate to chime in with a chorus of "Why can't we be friends" because I know that one of the characteristics of being human is that we're surely not going to agree on all points all the time. But we can always treat each other with respect and consideration. The site has been built to hopefully help everyone expand their understanding of bass, bass destinations, tackle and equipment including boats and service, and other bass anglers. This is the primary goal of those that bring the site to you daily; our sponsors, and of the lion's share of those using the web site.
Personally I think it's a shame that great guys like Mike and Gerry come under fire here but I suppose that the forum imitates or carries out what goes in the real world. I just hate to think that someone from another part of the state, country or world is drawing their opinions of us by what they sometimes read here. Some folks love drama and others are turned off by it. I know I can't dictate the terms by which all use this forum but I can ask that these sorts of threads go offline sooner then later and that folks utilize emails and phones to finalize some of the stuff that gets exposed online.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend of fishing and if you're not able to fish then please safely enjoy what you do get to do!

hahaha do you actually think that someone would catch a big fish at an actual lake and then say they caught it as mission viejo?? who cares about mission viejo. its a pond. no one cares about it....... Kyle.... that's why, as I was leaving the lake today, you and Brian show up?......I just was out with a client working 10lbers......nobody wants to go there.........it's just a fishbowl. I have huge respect for Mike, but I think Mr. Long could have done better with his terrific catch, following it up with b.s. is just ....well b.s! Mike, you should have truthfully said you caught it off-hours (down south) and will not count it......that would receive much more respect from your peers. You completely be-little myself along with a couple more "daily" guys at Mission....you touched the wrong nerve dude. Tony...sorry about all of this, but it is a public forum and so long as it is, you will always come across b.s. I'm done!

Hey Gerry M.
Gerry, you have missed the point of my comment completely. My suggestion to you was to talk to Mike directly not threw this forum. Those are some serious allegations and I hope for your sake you can justify them. We all know you are a great stick and I am sure serve your cleints well, but if you are going to make a living off of LMV, Mike should be your best freind because he just got your business location free airtime on ESPN. Your rights as a homeowner in MV give you free access to the lake and you should be happy to have a great venue at your disposal. If you had a travel baseball team and wanted to use the MV Lake fields for your practice and games. the city would charge you a use fee, much more than the gate fee at LMV that you have to pay to get your cleints thru the gate. Be glad the homeowners that pay for LMV dont know you guys use their lake for your personal gain, they probably would want a cut. I gave Mike your #. Rick G.

Got Bass?
Rick your right, i am thankful about the press in retrospect, My phone is ringing off the hook!,which is why Gerry i asked you to email me i need help? Im out injured (abdominals). I still want Mike to respond publicly about these allegations though. There was an 18 caught under the same dock 2 years ago so some of his story fits (but the dock is not 25 ft, deep.)
Not sure...
that Mike will brave it in here again to comment about this fish. He was in here once before on this item and I tend to doubt his return. Only seems to kind of fan the flames. However he seems poised to speak with people, be it in person when next you see him or via the phone.
I get the feeling by the flavor of some of the posts that we'd be fortunate indeed to hear from Mike Long ever again in this arena. It's sad but it has happened on the NorCal forum before also. We once had frequent visits from Skeet Reese on the Norcal side. But he got flamed one time too many and we've never heard from him again. Big brother Jimmy still pops in from time to time but they all, high profile pro anglers, tend to wade in gingerly if at all as a result of the shots they take and to my mind the rest of us lose out.
Wouldn't it be great if guys like Mike Long and Skeet Reese felt comfortable to mix it up in here and talk bassin' and boats and the like? When decorum breaks down we lose any chance of having those types of interactions.

not sure
Point well taken. Mike does want to talk to Gerry though. Rick G.
Re: Hey Gerry M.
Rick, ML will most likely never be my best friend, regardless of anything. You can't compare M.V. baseball to M.V. bass fishing either.......not fair
As a quarterly paying 16 year member, I have the same right as ALL other current members to bring in ANY guests I please.....I owe nothing to anybody (except Brian Day, my web-guy) and I work very hard for my dime.....honestly. BTW, how did Kyle and Brian do today?....lot's of big fish up right now. Shawn R.........like I've said before....if you are TRULY that busy, (my phone doesn't ring off the hook), you know how to reach me. I'm spent

Good as GOLD
Gerry's word is as Good as Gold to me. If he says the sun sets in the East, I'd pick a fight with Galileo before I'd dispute Gerry. PERIOD. I know how hard Gerry works to keep the So Cal bass clients happy. Those who dispute or knock him don't know him and his integrity. I do, and am honored to call him a friend. Long fishes for himself(yes I've met him), Gerry guides clients to fish, whether on MV or not. He is one of the best (giuides, anglers) in So Cal.
Gerry is not knocking down Long for the sake of being a whistle-blower, it is for the good of the sport as a whole. Honesty seems to be a hurdle fo many big bass chasers. Liars bring it all down and anyone who lies is a LIAR, very simple. Record books are for the Porter Halls and the Mike Longs of the world, why should anyone else care or pay homage?
