Camp Far West Tips needed

Post by bassinwannabe »

Hello everyone. Been so long since I have been here I had to re register a new name LOL. Love the new forum lay out BTW

Any way I will be camping at Camp Far West next weekend the 20-22. Any fishing tips you could give would be great. I went out there 2 weeks ago from the shore and it was my 2 year old sons first time fishing and he loved it when I caught a little one ( the big one got off my line :( Any way I will have the boat out this time and would like to show my son one of hose 20 fish days. Any tips on places to fish, lures, techniques all the good stuff is much appreciated.

Peace
Rob

The wife and I were down there a month back, with a friend that
lives in the area and we worked points and rocky shoreline with
senkos and tubes and had a good time. #294 senko and craw
colored tubes I think would work for you. ALso I would try a ripbait, like rapala or lucky craft, might get a stripper to hit. Someone else, with better info probably will give you more tips.
Bill K. It is a good looking area and the new launch and camp area sures looks nice.CFW

I fished there about a month and a half ago for the first time. It was cold, rainy and very windy. The only way we caught them was on a Carolina rig. I was catching them on an Aaron’s magic roboworm and my buddy was getting them on a pumpkin kreature bait. I'm sure you can still get them on that but it isn't the most exciting way to fish. Could be very good for your son to try though.

Definitely try rip baits and topwater.

I suggest catching some bluegill in the morning and drifting them by the dam in the afternoon for big strippers! nose hook them on a circle hook and drift them with no weight.....

Good luck
