humminbird vs lowrance

Post by clubchiman »

I want to see what the pro's think of humminbird's side image technology? Does it really work in real life... perhaps on the delta or on the lakes? The web sight looks to good to be true.

I want to buy a new fish finder have a nice lowrance x-17 but want to upgrade to a color screen any thoughts would help thanks.

buy it, i have the 997sic with gps at the wheel and the 797siC with gps up front!

I wouldn't get any other graph! Well worth the money. the next boat will have the same! if your gonna do one, get the 997siC and put it at the wheel!

Woood, can you be more specific. What do you like about it ?
Why Humm over Lowrance ?

I'm ready to replace mine, so real data and functionality would help me. The Hook out here has both so Its a matter of picking which one.

1 plus is, for me, I have an x15 in dash, so another lowrance pops in. The Humm will be side mounted.

post up bro.

you will find stuff you never new was there, you can litlerly see what is down there, a sucken boat, tire, rock, xmas tree, bike, motorcycle, car. It will take a while to get used to but it is awesome.

The gps feature, you see something, you but the hover button over it and you mark it, now you know exactly there that sucken tire or rock pile is on the gps...

It's hard to explain all the features, find someone who has one and go along for a schooling!

And yes it will work on the delta, im using it on a muddy shallow river with tidal effects so if it works here in 3-5 feet of water it will work where your at!

I ran across it a few months ago while doing the same comparision shopping you are doing. I will be adding a 997SI-c to my dash this year when I make some more $$$$. The views are incredible.

Side imaging is the future. I can't wait to cruise down a rock wall on Sandmound and pick the fish I want to catch.
