Shellcracker ?

Post by haggy »

I just recieved mine last week and took it out last saturday evening. I deadsticked it, twitched it, swam it slow and no strikes. Bass were busting on top but no luck. I caught about 15 fish with jigs, cranks, and dropshoting. I was throwing the shellcracker on a Okuma 7'6 H, a Cardiff 400, and 20 pound p-line. I only liked the swimming action when I would reel very slow. You guys have any advice for me, i'm dying to see something blow up on this bueatiful bait. I was fishing at Kaweah lake.

Don't feel bad. I haven't caught anything on mine either. Looks good, just haven't had a blow up on it yet. It's like any specialty bait though, only a matter of time 'til a monster sucks it in!!! Stick with it.

Thanks Cooch, last time I did just fish it open water and up shallow. I'm going out again tomorrow night. I will fish it next to trees and brush and hopefully have some strikes. Thanks to everyone who responded to my thread. This is a great site.

It just takes time it took me two trips throwing a swimbait all day and then I caught a 6# for my first so I was stoked. You just need to give it time.
