New to this Site. LUNKER PUNKER Question?

Post by SNACKTIME »

I have been browsing this site for the last year, I think its great. This is my first forum question for you guys. Nice to see some people are willing to share some knowledge.

I'm going to Clear Lake next week and I picked up a 9 inch Lunker Punker. Sounds like this bait is working up there, just wondering what conditions you guys are throwing it in. Open watert? Cover? Wind? Night? Day? Afternoon? North or South end? Ect.......... Any advise would be appreciated.

First off - Welcome to the Forum- You are now officially a NUTCASE!

I can tell you this - the Shellcracker was only working up TIGHT against the Tules. I know that Cooch tossed the Punker during the Rally so hopefully he'll chime in.......

I didn't get any punker fish this past week.. but, in the events prior to that I was getting them pretty good on it.

Throw it over shallow weeds and next to structure like docks - tules etc... The fish will come from the structure and hammer it!

What part of the lake north or south ?

To git bit on that Punker up there, is......

very simple! Start at Kona Tai, put the trolling motor down and fish along H20 all the way to the Keys! As you go through each section, you will begin to develope the pattern required to catch em. Then just skip all the non-productive stuff as ya continue south!

I would also suggest to fish it slow, with long gliding tooshes. These are not spotted bass, and that fast paced, dog walking thing, is not very productive!

Thanks guys. I can't wait to get to Clear Lake. The air up there even smells like big bass.
