Need a little help out here

Okay, so my wife talked me into getting a sailboat and we have it out in Martinez. Needless to say, the 7.5Hp motor is ideal for trolling or anchoring up in that area, but I don't know where to start.

Help me please, that slow sailing pace is killing me...
