There is a time and place for the use of a floattube and they can really be fun. But keep it simple, as to what you are carrying and fishing with and it will remain fun, when you are useing the tube. Unless, of course, that is your only means of water travel, then rig it full out as the float tube clubs do and go for it. Bill K
Fun fishing the country, each and every week.

I'm with bill, i keep it simple. Only bring out the baits you know you will use. I never bring out more than two rods with me. You might even think about buying a float tube rod holder. Have fun with it though... it beats shore fishing!!!

Just started fishing Pine Creek from shore in Chico.
First 2 fish I hooked were bigger than anything I've pulled out Oroville.
I've been hitting my spot by the boat launch every chance I get, be it before going to work, after work, or when I'm supposed to be at work.
The other day I got a nice 2 3/4 pounder while squatting against the bank at about 7:30 am.
I went to work feeling pretty good about myself.
That evening I came back back to try for the big fish that keeps seeing me before I see her. No luck.
But I did overhear a gentleman up on the parking lot advising another man with his children that someone had killed a 6 button rattler at about 10:30 that morning. I came up and asked where and he said right from where you just walked up from. Wow!
Here's the relevant part.
He then went on to tell me he knows someone who snagged one on the surface while it was crossing the creek!!!
I was considering a float tube but I'm going pontoon at least if not canoe.

Float tubing is a great way to fish small ponds, and waterways! Its easier than dealing with trying to put a small alum boat, or raft in the water! When you catch a good size fish they will pull you around, and its kinda fun! I do alot of tubing in between tourneys, and I think it is relaxing, and fun. As someone aleady said, keep it simple. a few rods and baits that you know you will use to catch fish. make sure to pack a lunch, and bring drinks!

Float tubing can be a GREAT way to catch some really good fish! There are alot of private ponds and one private lake in particular around here that I used to fish from a tube on a daily basis and it's a blast!.........Just remember to be careful when you're throwing spooks.......a missed hook set can sink ya pretty damn fast
lol!
Re: what do you guys think about float tubing.......
tubes are great for getting on water where there is a strict ordinance. Keep it simple when loading her up and use a longer rod for better hook sets. Also don't get a wild hair and decide your gonna go float around Dutch Slough on the annual 1st boaters day on the OUTGOING! not sure what was worse the monster boat wakes or the raging tide

I can say one thing. Wear the chest belt on your waders, it isn't fun sinking like a stone should you end up in the water in an unfortunate circumstance of some sort.
