....Clear Lake? Also.....What's the deal with electric blue jigs tipped with electric blue trailers at Clear Lake? A few people I know swear by 'em. Does anybody have any insight on this? Thanks

Re: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE FLIPPIN' BAIT @.....
Something about the electric blue jigs/trailers just seems inherently wrong. I have fished the blue jig before and have been met with success, but I've never fished it at Clear Lake.
I have my mainstay jig colors right next to the blue ones, but rarely do I tie on the blue, even though I know it works.
I'm gonna have to spend more time tossin' blue.

I watched A True Bass episode and the Pro said that the crawdads in CL turn Black and Blue in the Summer months hence the Blue color use. Cooler months go back to your brown colors.Alex M. wrote:....Clear Lake? Also.....What's the deal with electric blue jigs tipped with electric blue trailers at Clear Lake? For flippin the delta or CL you can never go wrong with a jig or a senko.
I like watermelon colors on my senko and i tie my own jigs with a custom color. Just stick to the basics though lighter in clear water and darker in stained water. never fails!

I would have to say the YUM Woolie hog craw in green pumpkin.
It's a bait that most guys don't even know about. I will flip that bait anywhere. One trip up to Clear lake in one day my partner and I went through 6 bags.
All I can say is LPT!

It used to be the Yamamoto large single tail grub in rootbeer or pumpkin. Lately it has been the Brushhog. I suspect it will change to the Yamamoto Flappin Hog based on what I am looking at out here in the shop. Did o.k. on the large Beavers this year as well.

Never tried the hawg craws but I fish the Wooly hawg tails a lot and love those. They hold scent great and it's a nice fat bodied bait.big_gorilla wrote:I would have to say the YUM Woolie hog craw in green pumpkin.

Re: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE FLIPPIN' BAIT @.....
Joe,
The Woolie hawg craw works better in thicker stuff and tullies cuz it doesn't have the two long curls tails on the bottom like to hawg tail.
I even throw it behind a jig if I want a bulky bait.
I agree I think the scent is key.
Mike I love the worms and even won some of the craws at a tournament but I must say I haven't fished them. Sounds like I should give them a try. I'm sure I will see you at a tournament soon.

Berserk flippin jig with a beaver trailer or a 5" super grub. The flippin jig is not on the website yet, but you can order it. They have a page to customize your jig the way you want like a menu at a restaurant. www.berserkbaits.com
Re: WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE FLIPPIN' BAIT @.....
For me, flippen jigs in either black or brown using a wide array of blue/purple trailers to meet the bass' desires, has always worked best for me. I just feal a jig is the best tool, that represents this forage, under every condition, year round, top to bottom, available to me as an angler.
As far as the brown, blues & purples, it's all about the Gills and Bream! All of our lakes, ponds and rivers accross this country have em. Yeah, some varieties of craws will have the blue tint and hue to them, but they are not resident in every lake, year round. The gills and bream, scream brown, black & blue, and bass just gobble this forage year round. There may be times when they key on shad, trout and craws, but the bream in our fisheries, is a year round source of forage for the largemouth bass, a forage, they can't resist.
