SoCal saltwater..

Post by David McKenzie »

Thinking about coming down to do some light tackle inshore fishing. Bay Bass, Calico's "whatever is eating..whats my best bet, SD or maybe King Harbor in Radondo? Those are the places I have been. Any thoughts on other places to try? Will need to rent a skiff. Or, I would be happy to give that money & buy lunch to a private boater for a back seat and return the favore on the Delta when there in my area. thanks for any info.

Hey Dave

If you want inshore try Newport Bay ....you can rent skiffs at the Balboa Pavillion and the spotted bay bass bite is on fire pitching plastics to the docks when the tide is moving in or out. When there is no current you need to try trolling the eel grass with cranks or slow rolling blades ticking the top of the grass.Alos do not forget the morrings out near the channels. Also if you would rather have a guide Mike Gardner is the best in the southland on any inshore water.
Hope this helps...

Hey David, if it's a guide you're looking for, Mike Gardner is th man, he has guided the so. cal bays / inshore for many many years....he has it wired to say the least. I fished a SWBA tournament today and fished the Newport Pipe....it was pretty good with fish "stacked" on it in certain sections......from what I know, Mike has been fishing there also.....if you do get a boat on your own and need some pointers to light-up the inshore bass target fishing the boiler rocks or outside structure stuff on bass gear / lures, PM me when you're ready and I can put you on them :D
