Mercury Question

Post by MikeSouza »

I have an 04 Merc 200 EFI and my alarm went off yesterday. This is the third time it has done this, and this time it stay on. If I make a long run and stop to idle for a 5 mph zone it acts up. It is a constant beep and was wondering what might need to be changed or checked.

Thanks guys for any help thrown this way.

You are going to have to have them hook that up to the computer, could be a lot of different things. Hopefully it's cut and dry.

Good luck.

Sounds like a water pump issue, some Mercury motors need the impeller replaced once a year or 2 years at the most & some should be replaced every 4 to 5 years, but take it to the shop to be sure. Mike

My Opti has the little four light warning deal... I had a similar thing in that a warning light came on just as I shut down from WOT.... turned out to be a TP (throttle position) sensor just needed a slight adjustment... hopefully your problem is that simple too

The same thing happened to me exactly. It turned out to be a TPS(throttle positioning sensor) as well.
My alarm would ring but the engine would keep running. Had to shut it off to shut-up the alarm. Would start it back up and go to take off and the alarm would blare again.

Click on the Mossdale Boats link below and Jerry their mechanic will fix ya' up... :D

If you guys look, he is in Oklahoma. I don't think a drive out to Galaxie is in order.

Andy,
if you look at his profile the website listed is: westcoastconnection.com , which is a west-coast wakeboarding site. I sent him a PM also inqiring if he is back there or happening to be visiting out here with the boat mentioned.
But thanks for your concern...

Intermittant beep is Oil warning or low voltage, constant beep is Water Pressure. Rick G.
