swimbait advice!!!
swimbait advice!!!
Hey guys just trying to prepare for my first spring fishing swimbaits. Mostly fishing Clear lake, Trinity and maybe the Delta. So my question is what is the best swimbait rod and what are the must have swimbaits and colors. I appreciate any advice.

Wellllllllllllll>>>
If you have an unlimited Credit Card. You need 3 Okuma Swimbait Rods that cover MH, H, and XH.
Hud in ROF 5 and 12
BBZ 1 in Floater and a Slow Sink
MS Slammer's in 7" and 9"
316 Wakebait Jr in Ayu
BassTrix (If you can find them) There's other companies that work, but the basstrix is the hot one.
This is just a starter amount of bait, LOL, .....The Rods you can get at the Hook, Line and Sinker and the majority of the baits above can be purchased thru www.swimbaitcity.com /////Don Osbourn preprietor.
Hope your not Married, if soooooo, let her buy ALL the SHOE's and purse's she wants.
Good luck

Re: swimbait advice!!!
Matt Newman helped design a budget minded swimbait rod that looks pretty good and sells for $119 at Oroville Outdoors. It might be a start for you???

What length swimbait rod does everyone like in the Okuma series? 7' 11"? or 7'6"?

Re: swimbait advice!!!
Stay away from em all together. Swimbaits are an evil, addictive, expensive habit. Once you start down the dark path you'll realize all that "other" tackle in the boat will never get used again. It makes me sad just to think about it..

Sean,
Your getting BDBR all upset know, He'll have too post he caught a 8+ on a Jig. He's right=I think he forgot in how to use a jig. If you ever have seen the SWB's that he has, it would make the Store Owners envy of his inventory of just setup's.
OK, know I have to go hide behind some tullies.
Stock up on MS Slammers, 316 WkBaits Jr's and BDon's Hud's.

Re: swimbait advice!!!
Rich Thiel's advice sounds good to me. Apply color to match body of water you will fish. I.E. Shasta, use trout, Delta use, White.
